Re: Should we paint the bottom of our boat?

We use a coat of clear RTV silicone with great success. It promotes floating and thus planing.

No problem Jrkartracer. Do you all use the full front nose body? That could be a b***h. If you need vinyl graphics to match, just shoot me an email.

Re: Keeping It Light - Glue

I've used Gorilla Glue with no failures even running thin. Wet the two halves that make contact, apply glue and spread around so that both mating surfaces are covered. I use spring clamps with large flat pivoting jaws. One on each end and one from the side in the middle. Allow to dry for a couple of...

Found pictures from 2006 PWD

My son races go karts and has wanted a PWD go kart since he was a Tiger. I kept telling him (mostly myself) that there was no way. So I finally gave it a try for his Webelos I year. He did some of the work as well as most of the design advise. It took over a month to complete, but turned out pretty ...

Re: Beat, but not BEATEN!!!

Thanks for the advice. If I get to that point I may want to bounce some rules verbage off you professionals if you don't mind.

Re: Beat, but not BEATEN!!!

I've offered my services as District PWD Tech for next year since my son will be in Boy Scouts by then. I'm all for giving the chance to correct the problem to allow the boy to race. I've even brought extra prepared wheels and axles the past two races just in case someone needed them. We'll see how ...

Re: Beat, but not BEATEN!!!

The rules stated that the wheels and axles could be lightly sanded and polished, but could not change the shape and size. I know that leaves a lot open to speculation, but ???? Here are the wheels from the overall winner. Pretty thin and they passed too. http://home.comcast.net/~ctrebing/33.JPG Chris

Beat, but not BEATEN!!!

My son participated in District this past Saturday and finished 3rd in Webelos and 3rd overall. Not bad considering he won rank and overall last year and was only going to his last district race to have fun since he will bridge before next year's district race. The rules were pretty loose and so was...

Re: Wheel matching

Thanks Warp. I ordered a set of pin / plug gauges over the weekend that run from .060 to .250 so I'll check my wheels with the .087 when the set arrives. I have a large stock of wheels from the last few years. Somewhere around 60 matched sets of the prefered wheels (from Derby Talk, Derby Worx and M...

Re: Wheel matching

I've got 24 #2's from this year (glued boxes) and last. They have all been mixed together in a box. I've spun several on a kit nail / axle that has been polished and has a beveled head. I can't tell if I have the bad #2 mold wheels or not. What exactly am I looking for? Will it be obvious if I just ...
