+1 on the stock wheels and axles. After that my answer would be "time".

I like to remind people that you can build it fast or you can race it fast but you can't do both. Still some insist on learning the hard way.

Re: Heat Setup

What are your thoughts on setting up classes with lesser experienced racers going head to head and ditto for the more advanced? If you have large enough participation, I can see merit in setting up classes for different levels of competition. You see it in lots of other areas like intramural sports...

Re: A promise to keep

Just to make things clear...yes I have my very own track. That puts you ahead of a lot of us already. ..... I know your basic stuff. I haven't heard of "rail riding" before. I will have to look that up. Also I am wondering about weight placement. I am an "as much in the rear" ki...

Re: Cant question

I thought that there was one more page ... http://www.stanpope.net/anglecompute.htm which helps relate angles and spacer sizes and separations. The graphics are missing ... not done with the page, and got sidetracked. That's a good one. I like all the different calculators you have on various pages...

Re: Cant question

I think that I posted info about drilling quality holes and about assessing their quality. Probably no "easy to remember" key words for finding those posts, though. :) Any chance this is one of the posts? This one only applies to perpendicular holes though. http://www.derbytalk.com/viewto...

Re: Cant question

I'd actually just drill the axle hole at the target angle by using camber and toe spacers. Then only a very small angle delta is needed for either toe or camber and I could either shim or twist for adjustment! That is what I was thinking. Give yourself the best starting point that you can by drilli...

Re: Cant question

Randy, That was a great description of the interaction between toe and camber angles. Thanks Stan, but it has more to do with trying to be a good student of the information available on DT and trying to share what you and others are teaching. There is a lot more available on positive wheel cant but...

Re: Cant question

How do you keep the wheel from going in and touching the body when you run the DFW OUT at the top? I have heard most say that they run the rear wheels in at the top and the front wheels out at the top. There has been a lot said on this already, but I'll give you my two cents worth anyway. For more ...

Re: New BSA Wheel and Axle??

Not being able to acquire a set of the new wheels hasn't stopped me from a bit of [speculating] about them. Here goes. With the changes to improve the new wheel such as coned hub and reduced mass, why would the tiered (or stepped down) bore opening on the outside face of the wheel be an advantage? I...

Re: Adult Soap Box Derby

Looks like it is closer to the red bull soap box derby, versus a all american soap box derby race. Yeah, they're playing a little loose with the phrase. Soap box derby is great for the kids, boys and girls, we have 4 racers now. heres a few pics of my kids That always looks like a lot of fun to me....

Adult Soap Box Derby

Here's a nice story from this area to help get you through the off season. Sounds like fun too.

Check out the rules for both the driver and the car. The rules are few and amusing.

Re: Putting an oversized block into a Pro Body Jig / Tool

But I do like to double-check its squareness against both sides of the block, and if that indicated a problem, I'd investigate. Not sure if I'm reading your comment correctly, so excuse me if I'm wrong, but something about that technique concerns me a bit. There are two ways to orient the square on...

Yes, Stan. That is correct. I remember that thread but can't locate it at the time. I have 0.4 written in my notes though.
