Re: Derby's Done and Isn't there always one?
What is the benefit of checking in the cars the night before? We usually have a couple of people dedicated to check in the day of the race and the rules state the car must be checked in a half hour before the race starts. I would think you would have enough to worry about without having to be respo...

Re: How do you Handle CNC cars?
Missed ya' Bulldog, how you been? Hey, Bubba. I've been well, although quite busy. 'Tis the season again, eh? This year I am taking a far more active role in the pack's derby. My son is a webI, and since our webIIs cross over prior to the derby, this is his last year. This year I have been asked by...

Re: Leveling the field or just plain ridiculous response?
I'm a little late to the discussion, but: Why even race? How about we just have the boys build the cars and we can judge them solely on their looks. Oh, wait a minute... then we might have a dad who works in a body shop giving his son an unfair advantage with high tech painting equipment. Maybe we j...

Re: How do you Handle CNC cars?
Seems to me a little common sense needs to be practiced here. What is the intent of your rules? I'm assuming is that the intent is for the boys to make their own car, hence the "no precut kits" rule. Seems that having a CNC shop carve the car out of a BSA kit, it is essentially turning the...

Looking for vintage style kit
Figured I'd put this in this forum as well- Probably should have been here to begin with. I'd like to find a vintage (or at least vintage-style) kit reminiscent of the cars I made as a boy in the 70's. Similar to this one from Beta Crafts: http://www.betacrafts.com/catalog/images/DSC00044.JPG...

WOW!
Let us know what you think of it. If you like it and find it accurate, I'll definitely buy one!

If you weren't in Illinois, i would love to have you come do a "show & tell" with our pack. I think you have the ability to inspire some fantastic ideas.

Gotta love the $5 "free" sample.
The stuff sounds pretty neat, but seems kinda pricey.

Vintage kit
I didn't want to hijack the "car kit history" thread, so I figured I'd put this here. I'd like to find a vintage (or at least vintage-style) kit reminiscent of the cars I made as a boy in the 70's. Similar to this one from Beta Crafts: http://www.betacrafts.com/catalog/images/DSC00044.JPG ...

Isn't that quote from a different movie.... 'The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension' Could be... I've never seen "The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai..." I was just giving TJ a little "shot" about his clandestine activities. Does the "Bonzai" m...

Down & Derby
Finally got to watch this movie with my family this past week. We all loved it! My son and daughter were laughing like crazy, especially during the "escape" scene. And my wife was laughing at ME during the whole movie, because she says that I'm just like those guys. (Hey, when I build a te...

Re: BSA Kit History
Awesome bit of nostalgia, fellas! I remember using either kit 1 or 1.5 when I was a boy in the 70's- probably around 1974, when my older brother was in scouts, but my Dad helped me build one so I wouldn't feel left out. I remember the wide axle slots. I definitely remember the 1.9 kit in the mid to ...

Re: Planned major rules changes each year?
I realize this is an old thread and all, but I have to ask the question- If the desire is to provide a "variety in the experience" as Stan suggests, and his recommendation is to wait about 5 years between changes, then just who is it that benefits from the variety? It certainly can't be t...

Re: Rail Riding Advantange
I've played with it and had reasonable success- but I've really only done it on the one aluminum piantedosi track. Of course, the same car was a disaster on the plastic edge-guided track.
