Ha ha... I actually suggested that to the guy, if they were allowed to that just soaking it in water would be a big weight boost.
Wonder if you could bring your own paint, find some old lead based paint (Im sure it weighed more). Wonder if anyone makes extra heavy paint. LOL

Re: Odd Rules
OP on other site posted an update PINEWOOD DERBY REPORT - the race was last Saturday. We arrived at 8:30 with about 60 others and were given a block of wood, 4 screws, 4 plastic wheels, and two axles. We were given 3 hours to build and paint the car and, as we were told in advance, no wood or weight...

Re: Odd Rules
I have asked the OP from the other thread, to report back after. I told him if he could paint it (only reason I can think of for the blow dryer) then put lots and lots of coats to add weight.
This one seems really out there to me. Hopefully he posts some pics so I can share them here.

Odd Rules -- now with Race Report
Over on a non-PWD forum, a member posted looking for help. They have a 1 day build and race. You show up get your stuff and they race a few hours later. So here are the rules he posted.. Oddly I think it might not even be a BSA kit as it says 2 axles and screws. These are the rules we were provided:...

Re: No Weight Allowed???
I have to wonder, how long have they been doing these races? You might get a lot of unwanted attention if you show up with some really wacked out wheels.
Please take lots of pics, this could be one of the weirdest races out there.

Re: No Weight Allowed???
Any update on this race? I just noticed the OP said they are not weighing the cars. Wow this seems like a contest to add as much weight with out using metal.

I like the nose to rear axle limit. Think that will be a keeper for next year.
Now how to get rid of graphite everywhere.

Wheels with white numbers on inside
Ok, we saw a set of wheels that had white numbers on the inside. When I saw them they were China made BSA wheels, I thought they were the new Revel ones, but later saw some of them that did not have these numbers. My guess we allowed some illegal wheels in. Anyone seen these.

GRAPHITE GRAPHITE EVERYWHERE.. First tech inspection how do
Wow helped with my first tech inspection for the Girlscouts. I am being asked to take over next year, and am looking at modifying simplifying the rules. But how do you handle it when their decorations exceed the length, maybe little plastic lights that make it 1/8" to long, or a foam whale tail...

Re: Procrastanated long enough.. Need Carbon rod and Micro m
Wow, I am a bit slow in getting back. Thanks everyone. I have the regular Micro mesh (woodworker by hobby and have used the micromesh for polishing pens) Had the kids use it for wheel and axle prep thinking it was normal. Only after Sporty posted this did I find I was in a minority.. Oh it polishes ...

Well car Check in is Feb 1st and I have not got the Carbon rod or self stick micro mesh. Granted I only spent the last 15 min looking but I cant find .055 carbon rods .05...

Re: Lubrication & Break-In Procedure
Ok, but first i gotta get a rod and paper... Our race season is past but i can work on pulling the supplies together. As i said earlier I have done this with just the micromesh and graphite on the tread area and it seemed to work fine.. never did get a microscope out or anything, but put a nice smoo...
