Re: Multiple track racing

Re-lube time of about fifteen minutes gives those boys a break, preferably with Dad helping with the graphite, while the "Safest Driver" is determined. Some of the dads are real "Art Arfons types", and have been asking each year to relube prior to the finals. We aren't allowed to...

Re: Multiple track racing

Stan, For my two lane example, I envisioned winners moving to the right and non-winners moving to the left. (Both move right if a tie) At the end tracks, a boy stays if there is no track next. (Left end non-winners would stay, Right end winners would stay) I see using a pill draw for lane assignment...

Re: Sneaky Snake

- Quadad - Thanks :) and yes, it is glued into a slot in the wood of the car; balsa made that fairly easy. - botomgun - This type of car is only for the Leaders, using needle axles & razor wheels. All the Cubs cars and our "Friends & Family" Division use unlightened, unaltered BSA ...

Re: Best Track Alignment issues

I have a two lane Best Track that we have used for 5 pack's races each of the last two years and at District for the last 5 years. Two years ago I added an additional section just for the District races. When I got the extra section, I 'rebuilt' the flat sections of the track. By this I mean we disa...

Re: Lightning McQueen

A family in our recent PWD found the images of sponsors & numbers, printed them on regular paper, then put them on the car & covered with decoupage (kind of like clear coat) It turned out pretty nice.

Re: Sneaky Snake

Thanks.

The tongue was cut from a plastic lid off a jar of salsa  . It was the color I needed & had the right profile (and the bottle was close to empty  )

Fast enough for the folks I raced here.

Re: Multiple track racing

I suppose this method would work with 5 two-lane tracks also.

I really like the idea of the boys racing lots of times in the allotted time period.

Re: Recessed wheel bore on the new wheels ! why ! ill tell y

Sporty, if the BSA plan was to make the un-prepped wheel/axle sets more competitive with those that are prepped, then they did a good job. At our recent Test & Tune, we had one scout whose car was tuned to a best time of 2.53x seconds, (we then learned his axles were untouched - only added graph...

Re: Is there a cost to victory? You bet!

Just curious about something a couple of folks posted about the Scout racing his car. If he is not there, how can "he" race it?

If he isn't placing the car on the track himself, then someone else is doing the racing, and he is one of the spectators.

Re: Source for extra needle axles?

I am using drill bits, with earring backs to hold the wheels in place. The bits came from Harbor Freight in a package of various sizes. If I remember correctly, there were three bits in the package of the correct size.

Re: What constitutes a U-shaped front-end?

We addressed it this way.... * Indented noses are prohibited. Cars like the one pictured below will "stage" further down the track, and thus are not traversing the same course as other cars. http://i52.tinypic.com/2a4wpbq.jpg * Very pointed noses are highly discouraged. Cars like the one p...

Re: Derby Magic Track

I purchased a 2 lane BestTrack for our Pack & District use in 2008. LOVE IT! When setup & leveled, we have equal lanes. (In one event, two cars raced each other then switched lanes, each car ran back-to-back identical times to the 1000th of a second!). I don't remember how they name/size the...
