Re: Short wheel base
-T Maybe I can swing by your house and look at those in person. Those look totally different than this years cars. We can also compare our sons damaged cars from council  There is a lot of info out here on standard and extended wheel base, but very little on a shorter than stock wheel base. Ha...

Re: Short wheel base
We havn't ran on a sharp transition track yet, but we can always raise the nose a little to compensate. I'm still working on the design concept so any additional ideas are appreciated .

Re: Short wheel base
The concept is to keep the wheels and com towards the rear of the car. The nose will be way out there and I'm sure, really sensitive to any type of impact. The alignment would be tricky but I think we can work through that. The standard wheel base is approx 4 5/16" the size I'm thinking of usin...

Short wheel base
Has anyone ran a shorter than stock wheelbase?
We use a molded weight that give us a low COM and I like to take advantage of the extra energy that a short wheelbase produces in the curve.
I would still take advantage of the 7" length, just reduce the wheelbase.

Re: What is your weight design?
Tungsten is just too expensive for me. (Wife says I can have it when its on sale and I have a coupon ) I like the flexibility of lead, and can adapt the shape to whatever ideas my boys have for their cars.

Re: What is your weight design?
Here is a picture of our 08 cars; the one on top (outlaw) and the middle one (Webelo I) use this style weight. My Webelo painted all over his weight, so it's not as easy to see. http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/5/8/7/6/5/webimg/114738069_o.jpg Here is the top of the outlaw car. http://img.auctiva.co...

Re: What is your weight design?
We use a rail style car so our first mold was a basic T shaped square, as you can see it has evolved  . We draw them out on paper it was all trail and error. My boys cut the design of the mold on a scroll saw and then they cut the car to match. we use hard wood as the mold material, sliced do...

What is your weight design?
I am curious to find out how everyone has come up with their ideas for weight placement/design. Do you change it to suit the car or use the same idea for each one? Mine was very trial and error to figure out a design that my boys could easily make the cutout for, and then insert the molded weight. H...

Re: Any Lost fans round here?
We only have one channel, so we don't watch, but the wife hangs out on a Lost message board, KlosterIsland I think? They are always trying to figure out what's goin' on, lol.

Re: 2008 Derby Cars
Thanks! And there are 2 scout (Tiger and Web I) cars and one outlaw. My Tiger made the car on the bottom, and the uppermost car is mine. My younger son's car was easier for him to make with a stock wheelbase. He did 90% of the work from cutting it out with a scroll saw (scared my wife to death :shoc...
