Re: What group do you race with?

Our campground where we have a seasonal in Maine has a Nascar weekend every year they bring in some cars and we also have a PC race. We go by BSA standards.

Usually around 60 kids!

Re: The Block

I really would not get that into that tool aspect of it. Number 1 this is something to be done with the kid so If i could not follow the video how could a kid. Plus for that much you could buy most tools to do the wheels and axles with the holes from here. [moderator cut: No advertising for sites th...

Re: Tire mod?

I actually could do this. However... I feel that that just might be overkill for this race. I would certainly do it if it was a serious race, however last years I had to help build 6 cars for other kids, and could not in good consience do this for my kid and leave the others out. So I will go with t...

Re: Tire mod?

I really thank you all for the info. However I hate to sound like a real Noob. But does someone have pics of the sanded tires? I really have no Idea what the finished inside should look like. I am really interested in doing a ton of work this year on the tires.

Tire mod?

OK The kiddo just got first place last month at the campground we stay at. She beat out 23 others by using the site and all info on making her car.( now everyone is gunning for her. Including 12 Cubbies!!) We have very liberal rules, but abide by using the BSA car and 5 oz. We can however do what ev...

Re: Help on axel and wheels, everyone help on input!

I would actually prefer to build my own. I am ordering all the tools to do axel and wheels, and I know that I will be doing this agian. I am kinda sick of hearing from my friends how some cubbys have no one to help them so I will be certainly be having them get more use. So should I groove the axel?...

Re: Help on axel and wheels, everyone help on input!

Actually there are no rules. Powder and liquid both can be used, Wheels can be coned, and axels are ok.

However only really the 5 oz rule is being looked at.

Help on axel and wheels, everyone help on input!

OK the campground we go to in Maine every summer is having a pinewood derby for the kiddos. Well I haven't raced pinewood since I was a sprout and I really want to have the kiddo build a winner. I plan on buying all the tools for axel straitening, and tuning, and understand how to use them all, but ...
