Re: Roosclan Racing is back for 2015!

Welcome Back Roosclan! Great looking cars, and fun pics. of race day. Looks like you didn't forget much during your long hiatus. 8) Scrollsawer Forget, no. Get everything done I wanted to? Heck no. In our previous district, the pack that owned the track set it up and invited all the other packs to ...

carbon fiber bar. Since then, I leave the wood connecting the front axles (since the rules say the wheelbase must not change and all 4 wheels have to be on) so I don't need the bar.

Re: Roosclan Racing is back for 2015!

Thanks, y'all! This year has definitely been different with so little time to work on them. Dude. Those are some sweet and original looking cars! I feel the need to get checked for cavities now! Are the bodies solid pine, or did you do the balsa-fill like you showed on the other thread? We...

Roosclan Racing is back for 2015!

After a one year hiatus from Cub Scouts (moved to a new town and adjusting to new job made it too hectic), Roosclan Racing is back in action! After my son Seth's amazing season in 2013 winning Pack and District and getting 2nd overall at the Council (missed 1st place by .004s over 8 runs, breaking i...

Re: How to do a thin car/ balsa fill

Interesting idea to fill it with balsa. I use my scroll saw to cut out the frame, but we then cover the top and bottom with 1/64" or 1/32" birch plywood from a hobby store. I prefer the 1/64" for weight saving and ground clearance. We leave the body hollow except for the tungsten cube...

Re: Roosclan Racing 2013 -- update 3/3

Awesome, Cool, racing in the dark with those lights, thats neat-o. big time. Look like you all were way ahead of the rest, thats huge gaps I see there. There were even bigger gaps at times, and two cars were closer -- about half a car length. Dont be downed, due to a little slower then last year, c...

Re: Roosclan Racing 2013

Well, since I'm up with the toddler at this ridiculous hour, I might as well post the results of our pack race, along with the "Salt Flats Race" which was a district-wide race for all scouts (the official district race for pack winners is in April). Seth did very well, even though his car ...

Re: Registration for Mid America Derby is up and running

I wish we could get back up to Omaha for this (we used to live in Bellevue)! My son would love to do this, and I'm sure Grandma and Grandpa would love to watch a live race.

Roosclan Racing 2013 -- update 3/3

Well, with son #3 crossing over to Boy Scouts, Roosclan Racing is down to 1 member this year. Son #4, Seth, is a Wolf this year, and after winning champion in Pack and District and taking 1st in Tigers at Council and 4th overall, he decided that he wanted a different kind of car from last year -- wh...

Re: Degrees of cant with the PinePro Adjustable Axle Jig?

Thanks FS, ;) If the pinepro tool is 2 1/4" wide. What would you get if you set the set screws to where the tool has 1/16" of gap, from the table top to the bottom of the tool. (on the set screw side of the tool.) I'm hopeing it will get you that angle your looking for. The tool is only 1...

Re: Bulk Wheels

Yes ! The Chinese-made Revell wheels have a bad reputation . You would probably do well to stick with the USA-made ones from BSA supply. Thanks for the info. My gut instinct told me not to buy any. And they are the same price as the BSA pack so I passed. Interestingly enough, the Revell axles are b...

Re: Am I the only one who has attempted this weighting appro

Roos, Cool deigns. Do you sandwhich the pine frame? Easier than stuffing with balsa I guess. Seth Everything is hollow inside except the weights. One thing we don't do any more is hollow out between the front axle holes. We keep the wood in there for torque stability and we were able to eliminate t...

Re: PinePro Axle Alignment Jig

Yes, I'm dragging this up from the past, as I just bought one of these to try canted axle holes instead of bending the axles. Did anyone figure out how far to extend the set screws to get 2.5º of camber similar to what the Rail Rider Tool bends axles to?
