Our first attempt at a Cubmobile

This was our dens first attempt at the cubmobile. Our council has "Scouting at the zoo" for the weekend. This is where they put on the district and council pinewoods along with the cubmobile races at the county zoo. It was a very long weekend to say the least. Well, I am a very proud den l...

Re: Switch to new wheels for district?

Well the c.o.m. was more forward than we wanted because of the lack of space to put it. It is a railrider. The rears were perfect. We did have a problem with the steering. It pulled to opposite side we wanted. We ended up swapping axles and it was corrected. To tell you the truth , I didn't even che...

Re: Switch to new wheels for district?

Well here's what we did:

Drilled our own holes in slots
Canted axles
rail rider
sanded wheels
polished bores and axles
weight spot on at 5 oz
COM 1 3/4 due to lack of spack to put weight
Tungston weights
3 wheeler

his front wheel did have some unusual ware patterns though

Did I miss anything?

Re: Switch to new wheels for district?

With only 2 packages of wheels left at the scout store and a box kit, we were able to get a #2, (3)8's, (3)15's, (3)16's and a #1. 3 other box kits purchase had old wheels. this should be good enough.

Nice fleet you got going there. Lots of talent there! You can always paint it with a textured paint and it can be a really fast brick!

Re: Switch to new wheels for district?

I had no idea a change was there. I saw them in the store but assumed they were not "legal" like some other things you find at the pinewood stores. I feel pretty dumb now. Our whole pack had the old wheels this year. (I think :scratching: ). Only one car finished ahead of my son so I'm pre...

Switch to new wheels for district?

My son finished second by very little this year. My concern is that last year he didn't even finish in the top five. We had a pretty fast car but the results did not show it. Our race isn't til the summer and with all of the talk of how fast the new wheel are, we are wondering if he shouldn't switch...

2010 Fleet with results

These are the cars in our fleet for this year. My son finished second! His best finish so far! I took first in the family division and my daughter took 5th. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_-CoInV8nf68/S55Xubl66jI/AAAAAAAABDc/4zUGUBn29eU/s512/Fleet%202010.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_-CoInV8nf68/S55Xts1EtcI/AAAAA...

Re: "The Night Train"

Thanks for those pics. and praises. It's a good feeling when the time is spent doing this stuff and to get the praises you do from pro veterans such as yourselves! I have always wondered myself what the inside looks like. I knew there were handles, but how they were all wired up was a mystery. Thank...

"The Night Train"

This is our take on "The Night Train". Its not exact but pretty darn close. Notice the yellow headed lego men that I got to grind down with the dremel! We actually had a tough time finding a good match for the front to print out a decal. I ended up emailing the US bobsled team marketing wo...

Re: Scout Show Car 2009

They work with both inkjet and laser. They either come in clear or white. My recommendation is for any cars that are white, use the clear decal paper. If you have a darker car and your decal has white in it, you will nee the white paper. I use a program called irfanview (free) to resize the logos an...
