Re: BSA Blastcar Racing

So, who is planning to build one? I think I am, but I've got alot to learn. I don't think this first year of CO2 racing is as advanced as the PWD is now. I'm sure it will evolve.

Graphite or Alignment - who knows??

My son's unmodified car came in 8th in the pack, shameful he said. I told him not to worry that he could tweak it for the district race. He changed out some of the wheels and messed with the alignment. Of course we have no way to know how it would do, but we hoped for the best. The morning be...

Re: BSA Blastcar Racing

We might as well start a separate forum on it! I know my son has already had his final pack derby, 1st place modified and DNP unmodified. District is next week and maybe we'll get invited to council. He's already interested! Now I've got years ahead of me.....I might as well buy the lathe!

Speed on GPRM

I'm using Grand Prix Race Manager v.11 and a Best Track. I measured 37 feet and some odd inches between start pin and finish eye. Most of our cars had a speed (mph) around 200 plus or minus. For example a time of 3.1301 came in at 201.5mph. Is this accurate? I assume this has to do with the settings...

Re: Finally did it!

Crazy. When the track was setup again at church for the official race our best time was 3.0417? What a difference sitting for two days makes.

The other car we had running at 3.02 was seriously flawed at 3.15.

:idk:

Re: GPRM on Mac

I'm able to run GPRM v10 on my MacBook using Parallels ver 6 and Windows XP SP 3. I had to install some driver for the USB to Serial adapter and some other Microsoft thing that I was missing. After that it was smooth sailing.

Re: Remember it's for the kids...Bummer.

Somehow it jumped the track and hit the floor, must have been a rough joint or something. I had really pushed the limits of shaving down the wheels so they were very fragile. Last night I was tearing it down and cracked another by accident. My son must be waay to aggressive in cutting down the whee...

Re: Finally did it!

It's an aluminum BestTrack with thier starting gate and a SmartLine timing system. From the starting pin to the timer eye is 37 feet and 1 inches - I think.

Finally did it!

After 5 years of cub scouts, all the cars we've built and all the trophies we've won we never got under 3 seconds. This year WE DID IT. 2.998!!! Our track is 37 feet pin to pin. This track has never had 3 seconds broken!

Re: Where to buy supplies

That's a good idea to use a shepard's hook. We've been hitting people up alot lately for money (dues, campout fee, popcorn) and are trying to be resourceful in building the cubmobile. So far I've located used lawnmower wheels to use and this is saving about $30 per car. I'm also planning to solicit ...

I'd be interested in learning more about that brake concept.
