Re: Microwizard Crate Build

where in the world am I going to store the timer/wiring etc? Is there another storage crate build with plans? This seems as if not more important than the track storage. Would love some insight from you guys on it. I recommend storing the timer separate from the track, including the start switch an...

Re: Commercial Track Purchase

So a system to consider is the Transponder, with no overhead finish line and software compatible to the Champ timer. http://www.newdirections.ws/trb.htm I prefer to show an additional monitor with GPRM output over any of the hardware displays. However, you really need to practice and have confidenc...

Re: DIY Electromagnet Start Gate

The new gate got its first test in battle tonight. It performed very well. Unfortunately, when I tried the keyfob triggering earlier in the week, it wasn't working. So, for the race I ended up just using the remote push button switch. That worked perfectly. I'll have to look for a more dependable ra...

Re: Pit Road - Car Parking

It looks like Derby Monkey Garage, still offers the paper parking lots.

We used to offer a parking lot. We are working on a new design, but not sure if it will be available this season or not.

I've seen people also use 1"x2"s or cardboard box tops.

Re: Pinewood Derby Podcast

Andre's daughter is suffering from anorexia. He has turned all his attention and all of his non work time to keeping her alive. We have been praying for Emma and the family. While I hope he is willing and able to put out new podcasts soon, I don't expect anything new this year. Sorry to hear that. ...

Re: Simplified Bandsaw Jig

Here's a little more complex of a jig that I created to try to hold the block. Doesn't work quite the way I would like it to, though. Could use a better clamping means

Re: Microwizard Crate Build

mclewis_13 Love the build. Would love some dimensions and/or plans. A material list and/or links to your materials (especially the hardware) would be great! Randy, Is yours a Best Track? Any pics and/or plans? Looks like he used the Micro Wizard plans , which are available on their website. I used ...

Any chance you have or could shoot a video of this being used?
Is the block clamped to the jig?
glued to the jig?
floating free?
Sorry, I don't have a video. It is a simple pusher, so the block is not clamped to it. You could make a loop of duct tape to help hold it to the jig.

Love this. I am not a wood worker but it looks like something I could actually make. Plans appreciated.
Here you go. I made it out of some scrap 3/4" material plus some 1/4" MDF for the "spoil boards".

Re: Microwizard Crate Build

Y'all did a good job! :bigups: I added casters to my crate to make it easier to move around. It is amazing how heavy all that aluminum is. Seems to get heavier every year. :whew: BTW, to get the images to show up, you can copy the BBCode from imgur and paste it right into your post. [img]https://i.i...

Might check your local Craigslist and FB Marketplace, too.
+1 I have seen some good tool bargains there. With CL you can set an alert to email you listings that meet your search criteria. I find that handy when searching for something specific.

Re: Wanted - Workshop Tools and Race Supplies

I can't help you with any used stuff, but here's a graphite applicator set that is pretty inexpensive. I believe that I had to use the 16ga needles to keep the graphite from clogging up the needle. For bulk graphite I've used this stuff . Maybe not the fastest stuff out there to use, but works just ...

Re: DIY Electromagnet Start Gate

If I get enough interest from people wanting to build their own controller, I could come up with a custom PCB that would make connecting up all of the components much much easier. It would eliminate much of the wire nest inside the controller. I did actually design the controller so that you could u...

Are you going to offer these for sale for the Best track?
No, Doc Jobe owns a patent on gravity gates. This was just intended as a DIY project for use on my Micro Wizard track for the races that I run for local Awana clubs.
