Re: Advise me on using slots. :)

Many slots are really tight, so pre-drilling the slots is always advisable. For the Ford Fast Track races for Girl Scouts, I was amazed at the number of cars that came to the Pit Area with bent axles. Some parents would just hammer the nails hard enough to bend them. Some would just hammer them into...

Re: GPRM and Groups/Subgroups

You can use the "Master Scheduling" feature. That will alternate which race group is currently running. If you restructure your racers, you will need to delete any schedules. You can export your rosters as a CSV file. Edit them in a spreadsheet program, delete all your rosters in GPRM, then import t...

Re: GPRM and Groups/Subgroups

You can run with the ranks as the groups and the subgroups being the packs. This will allow racing by rank, but you will be able to see the standings for each pack's ranks by the subgroup standings.

Re: GPRM on Mac

As long as the USB driver is installed correctly, the port should be listed on the Hardware Settings screen. The Demo version of the software does allow you to fully test out your hardware.

Re: GPRM on Mac

Since GPRM was created from the PC version it seems built into the software it communicates through com ports. =Normal on a PC= That is an incorrect assumption. If on a Mac, the installed serial ports will be listed on the Hardware Settings screen as they natively should be. On GPRM website it says...

The best times on that track this season were:

Brownies - 3.1305 secs (Miami, FL race)
Juniors - 3.1286 secs (Ft Collins, CO race)

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

Well, we had the last of the Ford Fast Track Races for Girl Scouts in the San Bernardino area on Saturday. We finished off well. My oldest son was even able to help out at the race. He is in the Navy and stationed at Port Hueneme. It has been really fun for me to help out with the races and I hope t...

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

The Dallas race went very smoothly, with 95 girl scouts racing. A flight museum is a really cool place to hold a race! After the race, we got a tour of their other hangers. Lots of vintage planes, including my favorite, a P-51 Mustang. They even have a Sherman tank and we got to climb down in it. So...

Re: infra red timers - why is the receiver on the bottom?

It is less likely that the light will bounce off the track, then bounce off the underside of the car and then blind the sensor to the passing of the car over it.

Re: Interesting Race-Girl Scouts-Longish story. Laser Gate Issues?

See my post regarding using a laser start sensor . The simple solution is to use a mechanical switch instead. Every Micro Wizard timer ships with one. If they cannot find it in their gear, they can order a replacement from MW pretty inexpensively. Obviously, they know there is a problem, so why not ...

The young ladies of every one of these races are blessed because they have you. They will remember their Pinewood Derby forever.
I'm just one part of a very big team putting on these races.
