Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

The best times on that track this season were:

Brownies - 3.1305 secs (Miami, FL race)
Juniors - 3.1286 secs (Ft Collins, CO race)

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

Well, we had the last of the Ford Fast Track Races for Girl Scouts in the San Bernardino area on Saturday. We finished off well. My oldest son was even able to help out at the race. He is in the Navy and stationed at Port Hueneme. It has been really fun for me to help out with the races and I hope t...

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

The Dallas race went very smoothly, with 95 girl scouts racing. A flight museum is a really cool place to hold a race! After the race, we got a tour of their other hangers. Lots of vintage planes, including my favorite, a P-51 Mustang. They even have a Sherman tank and we got to climb down in it. So...

Re: infra red timers - why is the receiver on the bottom?

It is less likely that the light will bounce off the track, then bounce off the underside of the car and then blind the sensor to the passing of the car over it.

Re: Interesting Race-Girl Scouts-Longish story. Laser Gate Issues?

See my post regarding using a laser start sensor . The simple solution is to use a mechanical switch instead. Every Micro Wizard timer ships with one. If they cannot find it in their gear, they can order a replacement from MW pretty inexpensively. Obviously, they know there is a problem, so why not ...

The young ladies of every one of these races are blessed because they have you. They will remember their Pinewood Derby forever.
I'm just one part of a very big team putting on these races.

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

The winning car would likely be disappointing to most. Chicago was not the usual race. The GS Council used the race as an opportunity to reach out to disadvantaged girls. They had them all come to a couple of workshops to work on their cars. There they had a couple of carpenters that cut out the car...

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

Whew, what a week. Atlanta, New Jersey and Detroit races are all done. I didn't get a chance to take many photos during the Detroit race, but the few I did are posted on the GrandPrix Software Central page. It was great to be able to meet Speedster and his wife in person.

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

There's 3 of us as the regular crew. Myself and one other flies into each event and the other drives the trailer from city to city. We 3 do most of the setup, tear down and pack up of all the gear. We usually have at least 8 local volunteers that help out with everything. The Match Marketing Group c...

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

How did the races go in Atlanta? Would you have a picture of the winning car? Unfortunately, at the end, I get very busy so I haven't been able to get many photos of the winners, much less their cars. Atlanta was another good race. A bit smaller of a crowd, but the most enthusiastic so far. I've po...

That's a pretty cool looking set-up...does anyone know the track and timer they are using?
Best Track track with a lift kit and a Champ timer.

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

We are using two tracks from last years races. One is for racing on and the other is used as a test track during check-in. All the gear is packed up, loaded into a trailer and driven to the next race.
