Re: wheel wax
My son has a race on Saturday (Awana), and I'm currently working on the wheels. I have tamiya swabs, Novus 2 (and 1), and Jigaloo. Race rules are NO graphite, so oil only. Using the Krytox 100 mix from Maximum Velocity. A no graphite rule, I like it. Seems rather rare to have a rule like that. Peop...

Re: What happed to T Dean White's web page?
Pinewood Extreme has been out of business for quite a lot of years. They grew rather fast and then seemed to implode.

Re: Shifting center of mass?
I have heard multiple stories of BBs/ball bearings and other unsecured weights breaking loose and making a mess, that is why some have the no moving weight rule... EDIT: That was an actual event. https://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=2714 Too bad the news story is no longer available. Here is t...

Re: Shifting center of mass?
I had heard of someone trying to do that somehow with a mercury capsule, only to have the capsule break open and leak out the mercury at the finish line. A hazmat team had to be called out to do the cleanup. Maybe that is a Pinewood Derby legend, but there could be truth to that. It depends on your ...

Re: Pinewood Derby Track (4 lane) and Digital Timer
Seems like a pretty good deal. Piantedosi tracks are well designed wooden tracks. Hopefully, it is in good condition. The Q series timers are the newest offerings from Micro Wizard.

Re: Rule Interpretation
I would be curious to know why that rule came about. Just someone trying to squelch people from trying rail riding because they think it is unfair for those that don't know about the technique or maybe someone ran a car with only one front wheel and it would crash at the finish?

Re: Microwizard Fasttrack Timer Case Build
Presently, our custom track case has sufficient room to include the timer display. But simply because of the expense of sufficiently-sized cases, if we were in need of a storage container... I recommend storing the timer separate from the track. This makes it easier to grab just the timer and do te...

Re: Microwizard Fasttrack Timer Case Build
Those timers are significantly taller... If it helps, our organization's Q-series timer is a full 14-1/2" tall when stored. I've assembled several MicroWizard K3 kits over the years, but the new Q-series timers are far better aesthetically - everyone loves the larger readouts. :bigups: Not sur...

Re: Microwizard Fasttrack Timer Case Build
As an FYI. This particular case will not work for the new Micro Wizard Q1 and Q2 models. Those timers are significantly taller than the older K and P model timers.

Re: The Champ Timer Photo Finish Output Jack?
My understanding is that the first car to cross the finish line is what triggers the photo finish. The timer will accept two parameters that affect the photo finish. They are Trigger Delay and Trigger Duration. My guess is that they use a MOSFET for the triggering. You can contact eTekGadget to get ...
