Re: Coffin Nail Racing - Car Photos

Wow!! Rattle can paint jobs.
Sure had me fooled with the airbrush though!

Like you I have an air brush set up but haven’t had the time set it up as well.
Maybe this winter I’ll have more shop time to do so.

Adding alcohol to graphite

Hard to say for sure Speedster! It could all stem from this lecture http://www.pinewoodderbyphysics.com/pdf%20files/Lecture%2016.pdf Car Lecture under lecture 16 Or some different web sites . There are some good write ups about it as well. http://www.maximum-velocity.com/pinewood-derby-blog/2015/01/...

Adding alcohol to graphite

Well Speedster,
Some believe that it makes a paste to coat the axles and that it’s sticks to the axle when dry.

Or that the wet mixture packs into the wheel bores better.
And when drys forms a small graphite bushing.
Hope that helps.

Re: Need replacement switch for RaceMaster timer

This looks to be the correct part, Cherry E53-00R, but it looks to be obsolete. Not sure what a suitable replacement would be. http://www.res-rich.com/cherrycorp/e51.htm https://media.digikey.com/photos/Cherry%20Switch%20Photos/Cherry%20Switch-E51-60B.jpg :idk: maybe https://www.adafruit.com/produc...

Practice Track Plans

And very interesting car build as well for the Track Plans Randy ! 3/16"X 1-1/2" Fender washers for wheels... & 10x3/4" screws for axles! Leaving space so they spin freely.. 1/4" in on each end & 1" up on the drill location. What no spacers to keep the upper half of the washers from rubbing on the f...

Hi and :welcome: MJThurston. So your racing on a rail less track and it's wood! ( and not the super timer track .) Might look at what your rules say about wheel mods .. ( if the side wall lettering can be shaved off it would help ) If your not planing on using some neg camber on the lifted wheel to ...
