Need help with salvaging car with broken wood by axle slot

I just made a three-wheel racer out of it by drilling the bad side of the axle slot a little deeper and then reinserting the axle. Seems to have done the trick. Runs straight too. I don't have the broken piece. If you rules say slots must be used or all wheels must touch the track. You can try fill...

Weight placement, cog question

I hear with wooden tracks you want your COG further back and to run with more toe.
And for the smooth aluminum tracks you want your COG a little bit further forward with less toe.

I wouldn't advise anybody to build a RR car without a tuning board, and that's another thing he'd have to purchase parts for, etc. :)
Not if your like Sporty and use a smooth kitchen floor!

Ultrasonic cleaning for axles!

After reading over a few topic's discussing cleaning processes for wheel's found here: https://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5721&p=54498&hilit=ultrasonic+cleaner#p54475 I was wondering if any one has used an ultrasonic cleaner for cleaning up the axles as well. Before or after.. polishing ...

Re: Advise me on using slots. :)

Back in the day's before the derby worx axle drilling tools .. or the pro axle guide.. and Max V axle pliers. I used to use the superior adjustable axle drilling jig.. on the edge of a flat counter top to drill holes in to the slots. ( sometimes drilling flat and then not!) Now or day's that old fla...

Rail riding with wafers?

With razor wheels the wheel bores in over all width is 0.180 or there about! So there not as long in wheel bore as stock BSA wheels. The wheels however have a smaller contact patch with the track surface..With there precision edge. Plus some razor wheels but not all ! Have an anti friction strip.. T...

Re: 2018 Spitfire Mark III

I know what your saying having a way to remove the fenders would be neat and your weight idea to keep the fenders up right sound's awesome! What if you were to use a thin sheet of clear plastic for the backer plate to help locate the axle holes where you need them? You can always paint it later to m...

2018 Spitfire Mark III

Man kcarchitect what a job you did on the Spitfire Mark lll ! It's different and I like it how it turned out! Just an idea to look at for your fenders.. Would be to shave off the front axles some And build back plate that matches your fender design! Kind of like an air shield behind the fender! Now ...

Re: 2018 Spitfire Mark III

For someone just starting out with an airbrush it looks super cool kcarchitect! Can't wait to see it all finished up and what you have done for the dirty white wall tires. I like your painted rivet details.. you really have me wanting to play around with the airbrush when i get it and get ...

Re: Rail Riding Question - indenting RR wheel

No problem scoutdad01, Chalk up my way of thinking that the RR wheel could also be right rear . Say don't forget about the inside wheel hubs! even though the car block is not 1 3/4" wide.. the inside rims between the front wheels will still be right at 1 3/4" with the hubs pushed up to the car body....

Re: Rail Riding Question - indenting RR wheel

Hi scoutdad01, and welcome! When you say indenting the axle grove.. for the RR Wheel! Do you mean the for the front dominant wheel.. Or the right rear wheel ? Most of the time builders will indent the car body by 1/16'' for there front dominant wheel only! And yes some will also cut a grove around t...

Re: 2018 Spitfire Mark III

So I see you removed the lettering on the fat stock wheel. .That was a good idea speedster had on the rear wheel.. it looks wild on the car! I also like how the weights look like jet motors. Wow!! What a nice job your doing! Edit: Well Kcarchitect.. I went and did it! I went hole hog on a high end m...
