Re: Vitamin K builds a Track! (slowly)

The track over at APR racing is a 5-lane BestTrack with a center lane that's not used Ok, maybe not " uniquely cool"... but still cool! Edit: It appears to be a custom build. Just FYI, viewing posts on the boards of the Association of Pinewood Racers (APR) requires registration. But...

Re: Vitamin K builds a Track! (slowly)

Honestly, the more I think about this idea, the more I like it. I mean, if I'm going through the trouble of DIY'ing a custom track, it sort of makes sense to add a feature that I wouldn't easily get elsewhere. +1 As mentioned over in the other thread , there is "something satisfying about engi...

D-1 oil formula

You might want to ask the vendors who are selling oils for their opinion. I do not sell anymore. ...if you are no longer selling or creating then it has to be one of the vendor products. I'm not an expert on oils, but I would venture that Buckeye Brew Extreme Oil (BB Extreme) is one of those "...

Re: Vitamin K builds a Track! (slowly)

 I've contacted the ebay seller, though, to see if they can help me out somehow Curious how that turns out, considering that it seems like they depleted the remaining inventory and might lack replacements? At the same time, these track segments were in production for many years, so there's boun...

Looks like the inventory is now depleted. I wonder if this thread contributed to its rapid sell off... Hopefully you got a sufficient quantity!

Re: Mulling a track build...

I have an S&W Crafts track that I store for a group. it's made from 1/2" ply and I can't say I'm all that impressed with how rigid it is... That is the plywood track that employs channels (side barriers) for each lane, rather than a central guide rail, correct? I could image the...

Re: Mulling a track build...

...will probably add 150lbs? You could always use thinner wood, but you will then need to consider the twisties and less attachment 'meat'... I suspect that it need not be that heavy. The factory Piantedosi tracks used plywood that was ~3/8" thick . The Challenger plans employ a ladder-shaped ...

Re: Mulling a track build...

I plan to build a heavy duty shelf in my garage to store the lanes while I'm making time to work on the track and later the track itself. It would be nice if the whole thing laid flat. Nice, indeed. It would likely require the heft of several people to safely shelve a 4-lane 42' foot track in its c...

Re: Mulling a track build...

mimicking the Best Track curve seems like it would require cutting the aluminum track section..? Why? I'd imagine the Best Track approach would involve something like mild brake bending in the desired location... In Jobe's schematic, it may not be necessary for Freedom-like bending to be totally pe...

Re: Mulling a track build...

I do think that you will have to manually bend the lane segments to fit the curve of the framework. ... The Freedom track's gentle curve is nice... Do you have any information regarding how the curve is bent? ... I'd hate to destroy the lanes... Off the top of my head, the way I'd probably want to ...

Re: Mulling a track build...

That might have had something to do with it... I was once informed by a vendor that oversize charges / dimensional shipping costs are the primary reason for keeping their sections below 96 inches. Exactly how much shorter likely involves other aspects that you cite. (Vendors don't extrude their own...

Re: Mulling a track build...

I'm a little bit curious as to how they can ship something like that free of charge... Looks like they ship 2-day FedEx. Of course the buyer is paying the shipping cost folded into the total price. Because it is a liquidation item, the Al track sections are probably being sold at or below cost to g...

Re: Mulling a track build...

An aluminum one is out of my budget... For a DYI track, this surplus offering currently on ebay from Diamond Brand Gear Outlet might be of interest to someone. A ~42' 4-lane track would require 4 bundles of six aluminum lane segments for a total (right now) of $384 (plus tax) and shipped *free*. Th...

Re: Finalizing my car - 3 questions for the PWD masters

Result from Saturday was we took 1st in the races. My son was very excited! It was close though, which admittedly surprised me. :goodjob: I did my best with rear wheel tuning, struggled... Any advice or thoughts on where I should focus my efforts are appreciated! YouTube short of the final race (wi...
