Re: Need definition of COG and COM.

Most people use the terms COG and COM interchangeably. COG or COM is the distance from the balance point of your PWD car to the rear axle. Why is it important, most PWD derby tracks are either Ramp-flat or S-shaped. You will want to have more aggressive COG 1 to 3/4 of an inch. This will get the wei...

Re: Rail Riding drifting wrong direction

Well, I'll have to do it next year as I handed in the car. It's out of my control from now on but I'm glad I was able to get to roll straighter thanks to help on here. No problem. The test board is the best way to test your car to make sure that every is clicking. It will translate to a PWD track. ...

Re: Rail Riding drifting wrong direction

Make a test board with a wooden yard stick as the center rail. Raise one end of the test board about 3 or 4 inches and make sure it is level. Run your car down the test board. Make sure the car rolls slow enough that you can observe the rear wheels.

Re: Help -- Pro Rail Rider/Pro Axle Press not bending the axles

Hello, the rail riding tool is fairly easy to use and 2.5 degrees is very slight to see by eye. If you roll your axle on a flat, smooth, level table you should see a slight wobble. If you do then axle is bent to 2.5 degrees as long as you used the 2.5 side of the rail riding tool. My Son and I have ...

Re: Minor weight question...

That is a tuff situation. Are you able to take your car home after your pack PWD? If you can, you could turn your car into a 4 on the floor rail rider. Search Sporty's posts, he has successfully done this with his sons, or you may want to PM him. Here is a post I found 4 on the floor rail rider here...

Re: Minor weight question...

Yes the tungsten canopy was very easy to use and my Son built his cars with them when he was a Cub Scout. We were able to get 5/8 and 1/2 inch coms mounting the canopy like your first picture (perpendicular with the CL). We would get the body down to about 1/2 ounce and use tungsten putty under the ...

Re: Bushy Run District 2014 Cub races

The funniest thing regarding us is that at Jacob's final district race, a dad asked us about his car and we were very open with what we did and our understanding of the physics of it, and how his car came about. That dad was john4840, and what we gave away in information helped his son RJ win the C...

Re: Strykker RR 2013

Hey Shawn, John Yep were where there, Tommy took 3rd! Car 67. We were very pleased. Thanks goes out to all the DT folks, especially John for letting us steal his design lol. We were nervous after having to replace the DFW after enduring some very bad track joints at the pack race. Shawn, if you cou...
