Re: Our 2015 Lineup

So here are pics of the acrylic used and the bottle. As you can see from the label got it from Hobby Lobby. Did use the 40 percent off coupon for it. It does get quite warm/hot when curing.

Our 2015 Lineup

Hey everybody so just thought I would share. It has been awhile that I was here. So below you will see our family lineup. So first up was my car. I was going for a three peat for design for Best non-scout car. I was beaten by an aircraft carrier which was too large to even race. (So new rules need t...

Re: Grand Prix-- Only one kid racing?

In our Pack we have conflicts also but I still let the boys build cars and I race them whether they are there or not. Some families end up popping in and out of our derby day seeing they have kids in sports and they play at different times. The ones that are not able to be there if they win an award...

Re: How to Choose Best Looking?

I have a design competition in our Derby. It really stimulates creativity. We have around 35 scouts and usually around 75-90 people attend. I have everyone and anyone vote. Scouts, siblings, adults, guests. We hold ours at the VFW and I even have the VFW members vote if they are around. I also have 5 c...

Our 2014 cars

So just thought I would share our cars and the few awards we came home with. Thanks to all who share on this site. As derby chair of our pack I do not have all the time to go all out to try to have the whole family win it all ( too busy on making the race day a success for all). Which I think is pro...

How our pack is doing it.

So now that a lot of us are done with pinewood we might be thinking about or getting ready for space derby. I have been meaning to post this for a year now but time just flew by. So I figured I would post this and maybe it will help out someone. I have been our derby chair for 4 years now. My oldest...

Re: Is this you???

Don't judge a book (or a pinewood car) by its cover. Point taken. I also never said it had to look kid like to get an award. The best cars usually get the design award wether dad did it or the boy did it. As the derby chair and a very active leader in our Pack I also know what many of the boys are ...

Re: Is this you???

Andy, Thanks for your post. I agree whole heartedly with you. I am our derby chair and you can definitely tell which cars the boys did and which ones the dads did (for design or speed). I even have an open adult division to try to entice dad to build his car and let the scout do as much of his as po...

Re: I cannot recommend SuperTrack

Paul I am the derby chair for our Pack. This is the track they had when I took over. I have be running our derbies for 4 years now. Nice thing is that it is light and compact, easy to make longer if you wish by adding a couple of sections. I also was able to create a hill for it using PVC pipe and t...

Re: Our 2013 derby car photos

All very nice. What wrap did you use for the princess wedding and what type of characters are they? Seth MaxV is correct on the body skin. We used princess Squinkies as our riders. Some were attached with glue dots but with the Squinkies being rubber a few did not want to stick so I trimmed down a ...

Re: Our 2013 derby car photos

The bus was made out of craft foam. I made two foam parts. One top and one bottom. They were both hollowed out and there was a piece of balsa wood in between them. I even put seats and a steering wheel inside made out of balsa wood also. I then covered it with Modgepodge. The Modgepodge really added...

Our 2013 derby car photos

So I just thought I would share our family pics this year. No top speed awards this year. My oldest son Joey who is a Webelos 2 got a third is his den. He does have a previous 1st in Pack. His den also won the fastest den award which was great seeing it was their last derby as scouts. My other son Z...

Kit manufacturer

Anyone know who makes the Space Derby kits for the BSA? I might need some extra propeller parts but not the prop itself.

Space Derby Carriers Wanted

Anybody getting away from space derby or just have old or extra carriers they would like to get rid of? Give away or sell at a low price.
We are looking for more but trying to keep our budget costs down.
We hang more on the line so we do not have to send them back each time. Saves on time.
