Re: Dual track racing

Does anyone have experience with dual track races? I would like to increase capacity while keeping the race time about the same time. We used 2 timed tracks for the finals at our rally last year. One track was staging and racing the Kub Kars, and the other was staging and racing the Open class, Spo...

Rangemaster requirements

Good day all, I have been unable to find any published requirements for becoming an Archery Rangemaster and Airgun Rangemaster (I assume one or the other will cover slingshots). I am really interested in Scouts Canada info, but I have just heard back from Ottawa............and they have nothing??? B...

Re: Costs to race

We charge $10 per car, but that includes the kits and all the workshop supplies, in addition to the awards and other expenses. All our groups buy the kids kits too ( Kub Kars are $3.95 and the Scout Trucks are $14.95 I think), so the $5.00 fee (and sponsors entry fees groups tried to get involved i...

Re: Costs to race

First I should mention, these are all kids from each pack/troop, not just the top winners. Potential number of racers could be as high as 250. Our hall was as close to centrally located in the area (150 miles wide x 50 miles)as possible (equally inconvenient for all :scratching: ). The hall was half...

Costs to race

We just had our 2nd annual district rally. I am just going through some Questionares we circulated. We charged $5 per car entry fee, which most groups paid for their kids. A few of the papers came back with negative feedback on the cost of racing. We also had a concession which one of the Venturer g...

Re: First time doing design awards

For the last 2 years I have been on our committee, we gave each entrant a ballot for "Peoples Choice". They got to choose their favorite Kub Kar, Scout Truck and Open Class car. We also had "Sponsor" Kars and Trucks. That way it was completely impartial, and judged by the masses....

Re: Weights Get Lost in the Mail... but there's an upside

I can't remember where I found the picture of it, but it does work pretty well with the 2 angle irons bolted together, and drill a series of holes in the split. I did find it works best when warmed (unfortunately my shop was -20C when I was doing it) to fill the cavities completely. And there was a ...

Goldrush was my CB handle when I was 16.

Mostly due to interest in Panning for gold, and last name is Rush.

Inflatable tracks

Has anyone seen or used the Inflatable tracks they sell in the BSA Scout shops?

I picked one up in Orange County, last week, but won't have time to set it up and try it for a few weeks.

Re: Multiple track racing

Our numbers were down from what we hoped we could get. We had 36 of 154 potential Beavers, 48 of 152 potential Cubs, 19 of 78 potential Scouts and 3 of 22 potential Ventures, so we had 106 youth out of 406 registered in the District :idk: We took the top 20 Kubkars from the track where all the faste...

Re: Buying a drill press

A simple way to get it close from "Bladeforums" A piece of rod or heavy wire (coathanger). Put it in chuck, bend till it reaches near the outer edge of the table, then rotate chuck by hand, checking the clearance between the table and the end of the wire. When the distance off the table is...

Re: Are you ridiculed on the track? Looked at, and suspected

Would you be able to pull the finger friendly nozzle off and put the old style nozzles on?

The couple I have seen with out the newer nozzles , seem to have the same diameter of tube coming out of the can.

Re: Derby Suppliers in Los Angeles

Thank you gentleman.

I actually started looking at locations of people, and sites I visit, and realized the majority of posters and suppliers are on the other side of the country.
