Sad Really

:/ At our Council race my mother in-law witnessed a disturbing event. Half way into our races she walked over to me and asked if people are allowed to switch cars. I explained of course that no you were not. She relayed to me that a gentleman that she pointed out had returned to a seating area with ...

I also use the paintbrush method of application. Grab some cheap watercolor brushes from the dollar store. I find the bristles a little long, so I trim them down to about 1/8th inch. Lets me scoop up the graphite and push it down the bore where i want it.

Re: Kid friendly polishing.

Curiosity... how high of grit sandpaper to get up to? And where'd ya get it? I have a hard time finding higher than 2K on the shelf. Yes. Or issue as well. We go from 150 (for burrs) 220, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, and 2000grit. Then we go to Polish paper in microns (5,3,1,0.3) OR jewelers polishes...

Re: 2011 Cars Race Ready.

Girls Derby was today. Tessa took 1st in Juniors division. Flora got second and Chloe got third. Flora and Tessa took 2nd and 3rd in Girls Open. Myself and my wife won 1st and 2nd in Open division.
This with my sons Pack Championship gives us a pretty good year.

- Thanks All,
Tim

Builders, Measure your blocks!

We had an issue out our derby with cars not fitting the length of the check-in-box (7 inches). After we the officials measured blocks out of the box, we found them to be 1/16th to 1/8th inches over 7. :awww: Parents were upset at the possibility of their boys car not allowed entry. I theorized that ...

Re: Today is the day!

:bigups: 1st in Tigers and.......Pack Champion! Was slightly concerned about our COM (1-1/4inch). He Lost 1 race by a squeak in Tiger division. The MAX V lube just got better as the heats went on. Set a new track record twice. In the pack race he was untouchable, 10th second difference. ( He was run...

Re: Kid friendly polishing.

Do you get some help on the gluing/cutting process? ;) It would actually make a good Den activity. My daughters glue stick'd and i did the razoring myself. After they were glued, We stuck them between some books for some compression to dry. The kids really like them. Makes it easier for them to han...

Kid friendly polishing.

Doubt that I'm the first to come up with this :idk: . We needed some craft sticks for backing of our axle polishing paper. My daughter found a big bag of colored sticks at the Dollar Store. Seeing how it's hard for the kids to see the difference in the fine grit papers ( most are black.) We used a c...

Re: Building It vs. Letting Your Child Build It

:offtopic: @ rpcarpe - I wanted to build a car as a Den to run in the Open division. I figured it would be a good way for the boys to see how the construction process went. I think a Den competition would be cool! I'm still pushing for a Wild Card / Lucky Dog race. Random draw of prior eliminated ca...

Re: so why do we do it?

It started 3 years ago when I didn't take my daughters derby serious. The day of the event was pretty heart breaking. The cars limped down the track. Wheels fell off. They put on a smile but I knew they were crushed. I swore to make an honest effort the next year. As with any hobby or project I begi...
