Re: My attempt at Randy Underwood's Light Tree
Hello; In my attempt I found a couple of mistakes I had to correct. Please note the corrected print. http://grandprix-race-central.com/modules.php?name=gallery2&g2_itemId=921" target="_blank You should note the original plan dose not show power and ground to the 4069 chip and it does n...

Re: (GPRM )Confused, what to do after round 1
Yes, that is correct; Of course Randy is correct. For our group we generaly have about 20+ or so and it usually takes close to 2 hours to run one round. So we just stick to one. When we tried more in the past we totaly lost interestof everyone involved. So IMO, just do one round and call it a ...

Re: Elevating the Track?
Thanks FS for that comment. I was almost shocked. :O While I believe there are obvious spectator advantages to an elevated track, I would also imagine that it would be more difficult (or at least take more time) for kids to stage their own cars. Does anyone who runs with an elevated track ...

Re: Drill Press Vice?
I like the drill press idea. It sounds good and safe. I guess I'm just plain nuts sence for the last several years we've been drilling by hand. :paperbag: I'm not sure that I understand how you are putting weights in an oversized hole though., glue or screws, I guess? :scratching: My solution ...

Re: Hsas anyone built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
Hello and thanks quadad; I found the same info on the 2003, ie. pin 8 is grnd. Its a set of darlington transistors with protection diodes built in. To be honest I do but just barily understand how this actualy works. I know that there should be diodes to protect the transistors from the relays, but ...

Re: Hsas anyone built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
umm, I think you meant the 2003 needs pwr and gnd. Question: Are you joining the commons from the Light Tree to the common of the solenoid? umm no and yes. The Print shows Pwr & Grnd on the 2003 so I did connect it. The 4069 Only shows signal from the timer through one NOT chip to the 4017, no ...

Re: Hsas anyone built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
Hello All; I finaly got it to work! :bigups: Apparently,, the 4069 chip must have power and ground. This was not shown in the print. Bad thing is I've been using the same start gate that is in this plan for several years but the tree won't trigger it. :pullhair: :wall: :? Well,, Hopefully I'l...

Re: Hsas anyone built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
Thanks John,
I'm sure I've heard that before some where but I don't work with electronics enough to remember these things.
Say a prayer and wish me luck.
If it works, I'll ne sure to post some pics.

Re: Should I re-lube at districts?
Absolutely, I would re-lube.
The reason the cars get faster is the lube gets warm and the wheels spin better. After all this warming and workout the wheels will need to be re-lubed. And plenty of wheel spinning couldn't hurt.
Good luck.

I have built Randy Underwood's Christmas Tree?
Hello all; I have finally completed the light tree with a few modifications and it works very well. :bigups: It is operated from GPRM and it operates the start gate. Here is a link to view it on u-tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E--Mpjf-C8 Happy Racing and God Bless to all Tom N

Re: Air Power
Looks realy cool. Personaly I think you might get a lot more air velocity out of it if the batteries and wires were out of the way. Mabe mount the battries flat on the base and set the fan above them so the air can flow through, might creat more thrust.

Re: GrandPrix Software and Randy Lisano!
I've been using GPRM sence 2004, it's always been a great product. I've looked at several others and nothing even comes close to the quality. A few times something would not work quite rite, I contacted Randy, response was imediate. He always had an answer either right away or made patch to fix my p...
