Re: Special Scouting Edition of the Down and Derby DVD

:D I received my copy 1/28 Pinewood Daddy said Did anyone get the patch that the first 25,000 were supposed to get???? That was the biggest incentive to buy the Scouting Edition. I got my patch PWDaddy. I'd call it a commercial-patch :P Stephen's Dad said: Dave, The version you have ordered is suppo...

Re: New Track purchase

Hey Bob, I just left a few tips at another thread, http://derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=1449&start=15 Do a Piantedosi search, there are several useful threads at this great forum. Here's a link to our online photos of new track - http://www.fbc.photosite.com/Awana/GrandPrix2006 campcrafter said ...

Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED

Completely off the subject, I just had to say that Frog's "shifting" Smiley is the coolest! BUT, I miss the squashed frog icon -- OK, back on subject: Campcrafter, buy a longer 5/32 hex wrench, or better yet, get a TORX T25 bit, (fits the 5/32 button head screws perfectly), for your ...

Re: Special Scouting Edition of the Down and Derby DVD

Ya know I spent $25 back on Nov. 5, 2005 and pre-ordered this movie. COOL--I couldn't wait to get it! Today, it is now available at WalMart for $18.88 :| What was the point of pre-ordering I'm wondering? I did receive a $2 plain derby patch in the mail though.  Being a pinehead, I guess...

Re: Tricks for taking off the axels/wheels?

I keep thinking if the holes are tight, that by first not fully installing the nails and then the subsequent break-in of the holes by taking the nail in and out (and shimming) will loosen the grip some... of course too loose is bad too... If your axle gets a little loose, you can use a good pair of...

Re: Our 2006 PWD Cars

Ditto congrats Randy.

Will your sons use these same cars in your Awana GP race?
I was curious how other clubs apply Awana rules to other derby rules.

Keeping the rules slightly different has it's benefits - you get to build more cars!

Re: New Track purchase

Hey Bob and "welcome to the forum" We just had our best Grand Prix ever. (5th year) We have a new 40' Piantedosi 'Freedom' aluminum track, using a MicroWizard K-2 'FastTrack' timer with Grand Prix Race Manager software on my laptop. Smoothest 'ride' yet. WARNING - This set-up did...

Re: GPRM in a MEGA race?

Cool beans Frog. Hats off to you for wanting to help out. Something we all should do - If anyone in north central Fl. needs a track, we have a 4-lane Piantedosi Freedom with MW K-2 timer that I could bring over if not too far away. (That's pending on church trustee approval first, shouldn't b...

Re: GPRM in a MEGA race?

Hey Frog, Since it is a "demo" race, why couldn't you just use the sample rosters Randy has in the GPRM, or set up your own. When you have several people show up, just use the pre-assigned names and numbers on the sample or pre-assigned rosters, check off the "passed inspection" ...

Re: VERY DISAPPOINTED

After much research we found one we liked at PIANTEDOSI OAR CO. Our derby is next Friday 1/27/06 Sorry about your problem, Piantedosi is trying to work out theirs after they got behind due to aluminum supplier. (Check thread: http://derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=1209&start=45 for details) One b...

Re: Question on using body skins/stick on details

You should paint the car the main color of the skin so that if you get a tear, it doesn't show through as much. Don't ask me how I know that! I know how you knew that- Last year I made a pick-up truck and tried one of those skins. They call 'em skins for a good reason. "Don't ask me how...

Re: 3 Wheel Car: Suspended wheel hole height

Most all modern tracks (and allot of older ones) have a center guide strip height of .250. We like to keep the lifted wheel distance between .060 or minimum, and a maximum of .100. Anything above .100, as you said, can risk the chance of climbing/jumping over the guide strip. Anything under .060, a...

Re: 3 Wheel Car: Suspended wheel hole height

Is there any problem with the raised wheel being raised too high, (other than looking funny or 'just not right')? Is the consensus here that if it is raised at least, say .040, it shouldn't hit anything? I think I just answered my own post- - if the wheel is raised too high, isn't the possibi...
