Re: Benefit's of Positive Camber

This is a very interesting Topic for those who are required to have all 4 wheels touching and roll. Don't ask me why they put in the rules "and roll". Info: I use the axle bender where the nail is put in the tool and you pull up on the handle to get the bend. Rear wheels and dfw are bent to 1 1/2 de...

Re: Pipe Cleaners

Here's something you might like to try. BSA has a bore of .097, Awana bore is larger ( ? ) Do one of your other preps or do one of each. Then take a "Walgreens" cotton swab shaft (.099) and Novus 2 and polish it again. See if anything (crud) comes out on the shaft. Looking through the bore with a ma...

Re: Polishing AWANA axles

What is the diameter of an Awana axle and does it have a coating? Maybe Zinc? I'd like to start with sharing a little information. Autobody repairman will run their flat hand over the area where a filler (Bondo) meets the metal. Why do they do that? They do that because the tips of the fingers are v...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

I'm going to assume you cannot extend the wheelbase. You're not going to be able to do a wedge with that wheelbase. The long end for the Front is fine because it is about the same as the BSA Front. The back is the problem. I transferred the weight of the pennies to 7 - 3/8" x 1/2" tungsten cylinders...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

RR, I emailed you some pictures of the car. I just wanted to let you know where you could get the 3000 grit sandpaper if you wanted to go to a finer grit. I think it would not be worth it. I would listen to Loud2ns and what he said under the Topic "General Topics". He has experience with Awana axles...

Re: Pennies From Heaven !!

Ratrodsrules1, Welcome to Derby talk. Auto Zone sells a single sheet of 3M 3000 grit Trizact Performance Sandpaper wet use only. I know, I'm on the wrong Topic. FWIW, Doc Jobe says there is a benefit for the short wheel base and a benefit for an extended wheelbase and they cancel each other out. I w...

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

No Sanding. The sides and about 1/4" over the top get Flat Black with a sharpie. Duct tape is then used to cover the top and leave about 1/8" of black showing on the sides. Any decoration is then applied. I have 11 rolls of 150' Automotive striping tape - 1/8" - 1/8" space - 1/16". That's used for m...

Re: Wheel Bore Sealer

The can has a picture of what they claim is - "world famous Utopian Dream Machine 1964 Corvette IMSA Roadster." It's a Red corvette and looks to me like its got a 1967 hood on it.
Check your email for a picture of the can.

Re: Wheel Bore Sealer

I think I've read all there is to read about this product. I can't find it on the Internet. Derby Evolution puts the sealer over the whole wheel. What are we sealing the wheel against? Moisture? After polishing with Novus 2 I use Liquid Glass and then graphite. Does the sealer take the place of the ...

Nope. My woodworking skills are limited to cutting straight lines. I definitely am looking forward to seeing those Vintage cars. I hope pictures of them end up in museums.

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

I just studied the Mid America rules on wheels. One of the rules is "No altering the wheel profile" . Is intentionally removing material on the inside to lighten the wheel "altering the wheel profile"? Derby Evolution has a Mid America wheel that weighs 1.3 grams. It must be legal or he wouldn't mak...

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

I wasn't suggesting any rule be changed. That's not necessary. The rules are fine. I was suggesting a Division be added so every scout in the Nation could send in their car and race under the same restrictive rules. Any car already built could sign up for any Division they qualify for. Most scout pa...

Re: The West Coast Grand Prix

Eagle, I think I see a problem. There's a lot of very young children racing. You and I both know there's some certain people on Derbytalk, and across the nation, that are loaded with CASH. $45.00 for a nice set of 1 gram wheels and a few more dollars for some Stainless steel axles means nothing to t...

OOBigFish, Welcome to Derbytalk. Simple Green? Have you been talking to Whoda? OK, I'm kidding. Simple Green has a lot of different products. What exactly did you use? My understanding about the Simple Green products is they are Non Toxic cleaners. If used at all I would think they would be used bef...
