Re: How to post a photo

Howdy Gramps,
I'm very familiar with electric cars. Might we see some pictures of all the cars that raced?

Re: BSA Wheels and axles

Reducing the size of the wheel bore would actually work against some of our builds, though I suppose I could grind the axle down. We are required to have the wheels sit straight up and down and square to the block. Our rear wheels and Right Front wheel are riding on a nail with 1 1/2 degrees of camb...

Re: BSA Wheels and axles

All good ideas. Maximum Velocity already has the perfect nail (for me) with his 4094 nail. Unfortunately, the head is not a perfect match to the BSA nail but if that were the BSA nail everyone would be the same. Let me quickly say, "I do not like the blunt end of anyones nail". I know, I know, Randy...

BSA Wheels and axles

I'm going to take a guess. It appears wheels change about every 10 years. Somewhere near, 1986, 1999, 2009, and we are now very close to 2019. Someone always seems to know something. Are we going to get some new wheels that come out of new molds, lighter, more streamlined, and I'll be able to buy th...

Re: Do you want fries with that?

I notice you covered up the axle slots before painting. I'm curious. Where does this little beauty balance?

Re: Do you want fries with that?

There has been a misunderstanding. Let me try to clarify it without making it more confusing.

Where the car first touches the Pin I called it "The backside of the Pin". My error. When staging a car the car would rest up against "the Front" of the pin.

Re: Do you want fries with that?

It would be the Backside because the backside is simply a part of the Pin. It would be a disadvantage because the timing lights of today are centered in the middle of the guide strip and the car would need to travel a longer distance before it would set off the light. We simply correct this situatio...

Re: Narrowing body for Railriding

VK, I apologize for any confusion I might have caused by writing something that caused you to write your 1st sentence. My intent was focused on the Dominant front wheel and the rear wheel that follows the Dominant front wheel. I understand the narrowing of the body of the car 1/16th of an inch is to...

Narrowing body for Railriding

Some, or one, on Derbytalk has said he never narrows the body of the car behind the dominant front wheel. I'm wondering if a specific thing is done to keep the trailing wheel off the rail.

Set more gap between body and wheel hub on trailing wheel? Set trailing wheel with toe out? What?

Whoda, you are a MASTER CRAFTSMAN. I think no one will deny that. What astonishes me is the speed with which you do it. Your photos are very educational and entertaining.
Thank you.

Re: what will this car do?

You should be OK and that is the Maximum I would ever go. If you can add more weight to the front I know 3/4" is safe on the Best track. Our Girl Scouts raced on a really rough wood track last year but fortunately even when they bounced they remained on the track.
Let us know how the car does.

Sandpaper

Our Walmart in Oregon, Ohio sells 3M - 3000 Grit Sandpaper. Cost is a little over $6.00 for 1 sheet. They also have numerous grits up to 2500. Auto Zone also sells 3M - 3000 Grit Sandpaper.
Best Wishes for your Pinewood Derby season.

Re: 2017 Ford Fast Track Races

Ya did a GREAT job, Randy. I'm sorry to see it end.
I thought Ford had already given the tracks away. Are they wanting to sell things?
