Re: BSA wheels

Hi there, Byiani, Welcome to Derbytalk. I was not aware that any BSA wheels were made anywhere other then the USA or China and carry an Official BSA stamp. As far as I know, the popular vendors carry only the BSA wheels that read, OFFICIAL BSA MADE IN USA on the inside of the wheel. I checked our "S...

Re: Maximum Velocity MV wheel

MatthewCox, I think there might be some confusion here and it's probably my fault. The vendor known as "Maximum Velocity" (Randy Davis) makes a derby wheel of his own design and he shows how it is made. How a wheel is made is what I thought the folks would enjoy seeing. If I have confused anyone in ...

Re: Coffin Nail Racing - Car Photos

Hi George,
Would you be so kind as to open a new Topic under "Car and Semi-Truck Construction"? I'm interested in learning exactly how "Snake Bite" was built if you are willing to share that information. I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask you. Thank you.

Re: BSA wheels

Thanks for the pictures. The pictures I originally saw from another vendor appeared much lighter in color and had what I would describe as a "Neon" effect. I was hoping that is what the wheels would look like. After seeing the pictures on Derbytalk I suspect that is probably more close to what the w...

Re: Coffin Nail Racing - Car Photos

Since the cost of paint was brought up, I'd like to add something a lot of Folks might not know. Automotive Basecoat colors can be purchased in a Rattle Can. Stores servicing Body Shops Will sell you any color plus the cost of the can. The cost of colors vary. The ones I have purchased cost around $...

Re: Red Rocket ?

Paul, you are apparently correct. I could not find Liquid Glass anywhere. Perhaps they went out of business.

Re: Coffin Nail Racing - Car Photos

Folks, when I write something my intent is to never hurt anyone. It is simply my opinion and it is up to you to decide what you want to do. I hope I have done that. I'm a Senior citizen and will turn 79 years of age in a few months. In my younger years I spent 13 years as an Autobody Repairman and R...

Re: Red Rocket ?

Hi there, paulg. Welcome to Derbytalk. I have Red Rocket but I chose to use Liquid Glass a couple of years back. A pint of Liquid Glass was $20.00 when I bought mine. I'm curious, are you dealing with scouts? Using wax is an extreme in building a fast car. I can understand why you might want to demo...

Re: Coffin Nail Racing - Car Photos

I invite folks to try something and see how you like it. Let me know your results. Pinewood Derby cars will never be subjected to the elements so I abuse the Filler Primer. Let's paint a piece of 2X4 Black with Red flames. Start with a clean piece of wood. 1 can of Filler Primer from Walmart. This i...

Hi George,
First, let me say, You are a Fantastic Artist. I also watched your video on Molotow Masking Pen Demo. That was very interesting.

Would you tell us how you painted "Green Mamba"? I can't quite figure that one out. Thank you.

Re: China Revell wheel vs BSA (usa)

I've never seen China wheels being that light. I do notice the bore on the China wheel tends to be smaller then the bore on the USA wheel. Our Pack leader has a set of China wheels that were nearly perfectly round on Knott's runout gauge although they weighed 2.7 grams. I happen to have 100 sets of ...
