Re: New to Raingutter... need pics!
http://webpages.charter.net/cschott/boat/supercat.html I went with these plans . They worked great . We had a great time. I'd recommend a Hot melt glue gun. Any straw will work with these. The race does not near as long as the regular boats Just have to make sure you don't make the boat too wide fo...

Re: Who has to use the original BSA slots??
Does anyone have a idea of how much distance extending the slots gives? I built my first extended wheel base car (Open class) at 5.50". That's 1.125" longer than standard. The rear wheels are 1/32" from the back of the car. The front wheels are 1/4" from the front (in case the c...

We have built cars that were the only car with a extended base. It did not win overall. It was not against the rules.

Re: Slow Starts
Aspects favoring better roll on the flat: 1. Better wheel alignment 2. More weight 3. Higher wheel inertia 4. Lower CM 5. More reward CM As you can see, some of these improve both, and some hurt one but help the other. I don't understand how higher wheel inertia helps? Does that mean it has higher ...

Re: ... and a foot-operated brake too!
We don't have that many cars in our races. Steering wheels and foot brakes don't make the car faster only safer. I don't have any pitcures sorry. I have not built a steering wheel or foot brake car. I don't seem them as being that hard to do though. Just some pulleys and some cable or PVC pipe. I've...

Re: ... and a foot-operated brake too!
My car building days are now over. Race was April 1st. We had some steering wheels and foot brake cars. They are the way to go. Our race had several wrecks (one car turned on its side) . If I had to do over again I would have done at least a steering wheel. Actually foot brake too. I had one very ne...

Re: 1st Time for me and my Son
Hello All, This is my first post, although I've been lurking for a while. My Son is a Tiger Scout (First year) and this was his first pinewood derby. I thought I would pass a few words on what we learned. 2. Car check in and inspection. The car that won our pack was fast. It broke the track record;...

Re: Need Help with Finishing and Painting methods for next y
The House of Kolor(Shimrins) paints are wonderful. But, DON'T use the clear coat. It will crack and ruin your finish. Use the Pasti-kote Metal flake clear coat. It does not crack and leaves a glass like clear. Regardless, use auto laquer paints. They dry fast and are compatible with each other and ...
