Selling out! Son is done with Scouts this year

I have a vast collection of Derby works tool and supplies. Well over $350 invested. I'll post pictures later.
The first $214 gets it all!

Re: Do you hold back info locally?

I too will share if asked. Sporty was a great help to our family and have pack and district wins to show for it. There are a few boys in our pack that either do not have the resources or family support. Love helping them out.

Re: Bore wax, burnish, or both?

I did see a gain using the bore wax and molybdenum. I need to next see if a pure graphite approach will offer an increased gain.

Re: Announcing Mid America Pinewood Derby 2014

We'd be in for running a car in both divisions. Our pack allows only graphite but would love to try our hand at oil.

Re: So your scout race is done for the year, Whats next ?

I'm running in an adult fund raiser next weekend. It's a bone stock PWD race that supports the local cub scouts. Then in two weeks my Bear Cub will race at Districs. Last year he placed second by .002 average. I know we both learned a lot on DT this year and will see if we were able to apply it to t...

Re: Rear axel @ 5/8"" from rear

Ran the pack race this weekend on the Best Track. The leading edge of the car cleared the curve of the Best Track by the slimmest of margins. All three of our cars performed well. We ran a 3/4" COM on all three cars My youngest son was thrilled to beat Dad again in the finals of the Parents and Sibl...

Re: Hub on wheels from China

I built a FS inspired tire gauge to check run out. The wheels are very tight on a #41 drill shank. This told me the bore was on the small side. I'm trying to round the wheels for use on a play car for one of my boys. Need the practice and cannot afford a lathe. So far I have got them to .002, down f...

Re: Hub on wheels from China

Shame I wasted $7.00 on junk wheels. I was thinking that the hub prep would be easier until I seen the run out. I don't have a lathe.

Hub on wheels from China

I just purchased a couple sets of wheels from our local hobby store. The "Official"wheels do not have the step on the outer hub. They also have a terrible run out and the bore ID is on the small side. Run out is .007 Are all China wheels this way?
