Re: BSA axle ridges
AaronS, I think I am starting to gravitate more to that way of thinking regarding BSA axles. I used to carefully file the ridges down, but now I just remove the flashing and polish the crimp marks smooth. Some folks on the league forums who race in the "Box Stock" division have suggested this is pre...

Re: Lanes width for none center guided tracks?
The Super Track site says each lane is 3.4 inches wide.

Re: Derby Magic Test Track
Have you had any issues with track straightness? I have heard some folks complain of a lack of rigidity from the plastic, so the track tends to meander.

Along all 32 feet???MJThurston wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 12:51 pmCorrect, my first idea is to get some thin ply wood and use if that can be attacked to the frame.
That sounds like quite the project.
Honestly, just build a tuning board and go with that.

Re: Testing your car on a guided track, when racing on a lane track
Ok. My NDFW is raised. I did get the single 32 foot track from derby magic. I will post something about it. It should be at my house when I get home. Storage and price is why I went with it. The timer and program is a steal when it comes included. ( Wish I would have found this group befire a bough...

That pic shows positive camber on the DFW. If you're running a sidewalls track, I think you'd be better off with negative.MJThurston wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:32 amHere is a pic of how the wheels of my car are set up.

Re: Testing your car on a guided track, when racing on a lane track
Thank you for the advice. You have way more experience than I do on this. I'm going to say some things about what I have read. By no means take this as challenging your experience. I'll tell you what I've read and you can tell me if that is right or wrong. Again, please don't take this as me saying...

Re: Testing your car on a guided track, when racing on a lane track
Take this with a grain of salt, as I've never built a side-guided car. However, here's what I'd attempt to do if my kids' race was on side-guided track: - Set the car up to "rail-ride" on the sidewall. To do this, I'd do the following things: -- Raise one wheel in front -- On the non-raised front wh...

Re: Testing your car on a rail track, when racing on a lane track
My test run track has center guide strips. I call it rails. The track my son will race on is a wooden track that has lanes. Test track = inside of wheel touches guide. Race track = outside of wheel touches track. Ahhhh...I really dislike the "lanes" style of track. I have heard some ideas for how t...

Re: Testing your car on a rail track, when racing on a lane track
By rails, do you mean the sidewalls?
Most conventional Pinewood Derby tracks use a center guide strip. Is this what your actual race will use?

Re: Homemade track
I would post a pic of the car and track, but I don't see any way to attach a file here.. I like to use Imgur as an image host and paste the bbcode link for the image to the post. That said, it is very hard to say what a "good time" is for any given track. Tracks vary so much, it is very hard to mak...

Re: GPRM: Disqualify after scheduling?
Would you want the races that include those absent cars to only have 3 cars in them (assuming a 4 lane track)? What's wrong with unchecking the pass inspection box for the cars that don't show? Can you unpass a car after the schedules have been built? Otherwise, we have to print out new schedules t...

GPRM: Disqualify after scheduling?
Is there a way to disqualify a car after the schedules have been built? For our DIstrict race, we should be able to get the pre-registration information prior to the race day, which means we can go ahead and build the roster and make the schedules and have all that ready to go before the event. Howe...
