Re: Now Available: The Clear Drill Jig

So, this product seems to have disappeared off the map. No website, not on ebay/amazon. Reason I was looking was because of the Inclined Kinetics podcast. Anyone have any info on where I can locate one? Sorry; I've been consumed in a new role at work. I didn't realize until a couple months ago that...

Re: Moving a racer after heats have been run

There currently isn't a way to move a racer once racing has started. It is something that I intend to investigate in the off season, to see just how complex that would be. If scoring by times, it may be doable. However, scoring by points is based on who the racer is going head-to-head against, so m...

Re: Moving a racer after heats have been run

I'm sorry. I agree, my question was not clear. Our Pack and District requires the scout who owns the car to be in uniform, check the car in and race it. In my 35 years of being involved with the Pinewood Derby I have never heard of someone else handling a scouts car. If this was some special circum...

Re: Moving a racer after heats have been run

Allowed to do what? Run in a different rank? That was just a mistake by the person who submitted his car for inspection/impound. We wouldn’t have allowed it.

Moving a racer after heats have been run

We had our District race today. A racer chose to check his car in by proxy which led to this Arrow of Light being placed in the Lions. The family didn't point this out until we'd run 2 heats with his car in Lions. I did not want to DQ him and have to recreate race schedule that far in, and also did ...

Re: Single Lane Start Lane Rotation

Wow, that is a horrible way to race bobcat. First of all, it seems inefficient not to have all four lanes running cars, but most of all it's unfair. The first and last car get a free run with no "dirty air." I.e., the aero turbulence each car produces that affects the car(s) next to it. Th...

More than likely what melted your wheel bores was the propellant in the aerosol can. If you spray the axles and let them dry for 30 minutes or so before putting them in the wheels, I bet that won't happen.

That's the one I was considering. We've used it at work before. You think it'd zap all the fun out of it for the kids?

Re: Getting more Scout Races to support oil as a legal lubricant

Cost is a myth. At one drop per axle, I bet cost per race is comparable if not cheaper than graphite. The issue is in the way it's packaged. There's no profit in selling a Scout only 20 drops of Krytox his first year of Scouting. I may have just figured out why BSA doesn't push it!

Re: BestTrack clean/polish

You have to be careful with Simple Green. The original formulation causes hydrogen embrittlement which will damage your track over time. I avoid it altogether. I remove all loose debris with a soft brush or vacuum, clean off tough buildup with a damp cloth, then wipe the entire track down with lemon...

Re: Getting more Scout Races to support oil as a legal lubricant

I think Scouters, in general, are just resistant to change that doesn't come to them from on high (at national) - particularly when it involves things they don't quite comprehend. Although shocking to us derby enthusiasts, learning the nuance and intricacies of the PWD is not top priority for every ...

Re: Now Available: The Clear Drill Jig

Will it do a raised wheel? Sent from my LG-H810 using Tapatalk Thanks for the question. It does not have a 0 degree bushing set higher for a raised wheel, no. But in all my experience, I've never needed to drill higher to achieve a raised wheel when rail riding because of the lift the bent axle on ...
