Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

Yes.. We did... After the race it was drifting to the right (DFW was on the right side and tuned to drift left about 3 1/2") and you could see how the NDFW and the DFW were fighting (wobbling) . I believe that due to weight and transition it did not show up on the track until the latest 10 - 15...

Re: RE: Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

That's too bad. We had a rear axle slide nearly all the way out after 2 trial runs before a Pack race. We had glued them in just about an hr before the race. We drill 2 holes under the axle and put glue in the innermost hole at each axle then push the axle in. This way the axle is being slid into t...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

Well guys what can I say.... Disappointing is a word... Car was sliding back and forth in the rear all over the track about 10-12 ft before the finish. It was fast through transition and then it looked like the brakes were put on. Got the car back and the DFW axle which we glued in place was not in ...

That'll be the coolest looking car on the parking rack for sure! You certainly dotted every "I" and crossed every "T" on that build. Can't wait to see how you guys do. My son and I are as well... He is cautiously optimistic since this was our first effort at rail riding... I am ...

Re: RE: Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

That is what we assumed as well. We are using lighting boys alignment method for the rears and tonight will get the front all dialed in. Question on tuning the front....... If we tune the DFW first to be 3" of drift (like a 3 wheel car) and then add the NDFW to get 3 1/2" total does that ...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

OK. Thanks for letting me know. We have assumed a cant of 2.5 degrees but wasn't sure since his 4 on the floor version goes against what most people describe as their preferred methods today associated with 3 wheel cars.

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

I tried reaching out to Sporty (Pm) with a question on the rear cant amounts (he does not note the can't amounts for rear wheels in his blog) but have not been able to make contact. Is he still active on the forums? If any of you have an email address and would mind asking is he doesn't want made pu...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

One question I had related to the four on the floor is regarding the double width gap on the DFW. Let's say you gap the NDFW and rear wheels gap at .03" (credit card width) and you have a 1/16" (.0625") indent for the DFW with double the gap at .06" aren't you potentially giving ...

Re: RE: Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

Speedster, Seem's i can recall Sporty, saying something about his 4 wheel touching rail riding set up as well! Something like needing very little bend in the axles for the front wheels and the 1/16'' notch in the body for the DFW. plus to set the axle gap on the DFW much wider ( about twice as much...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

He called me over the phone and sent text. Totally agree there is a way. He is supposedly running back negative cants and both front positive cants the way he described his set up. I had not heard of that method before and he has not ever told me a blatant lie about his setup. I think to be honest h...

Very cool! He would not have gotten the top on as easily if we had not received your application of photo information... Totally appreciated. Just so you know we designed it in photoshop and printed an 8x10 from Walgreens that had multiple of the same top design. The first one messed up so we cut o...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

We aren't done yet but here is a shot of the top with the photo in place... My son just applied the crystal clear enamel coat to the top. He did a preliminary test of the axles we bent and all is looking good so far for a four wheel rail rider. Weight on the front wheels came out to 0.695 ounces and...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

Davet you have been the most detailed to this point but anyone comment. When you are adding the photo paper top and you are bending it around the front of the car what are you doing to make it a clean bend around and fold under the front of the car. We were looking to have it overlap the front by 1/...
