Re: DFW wheel angle and edge
Ok. Sounds like the greater bend is more advantageous. I'm not sure anyone has successfully tested what the DFW rail pressure actually is, but I gave it a shot about a month ago and found an approximate way to measure it. With a DFW weight of 14.3g, I got an approximate measurement of 1.6g of wheel-...

Re: DFW wheel angle and edge
Vit K, have U been able to test run the different angles of
dfw degree on your car? If so, how much of a difference has it made in your times? Just curious as I have much to learn. Thank U .

Re: DFW wheel angle and edge
Ok. I have my daughter's car set at 5 degrees for the DFW. It's a combination of axle slot can't and 2.5 deg bend in the axle. Just a degree or two of turning and it will go from 2" drift to 5" drift in 4' on my tuning board. Our drift is set at 3" in 4'. It seems to work very well wi...

Re: DFW wheel angle and edge
For question 2, I meant to ask will the steeper axle angle cause the wheel hub to rub too much on the car body? I wasn't sure because as a car travels the length of the track, the DFW is lightly touching the track rail maybe enough to cause the wheel to migrate to the axle head? Thoughts on this?

Re: BSA axle ridges
Wow, Pacfanweb! We wanna race with your rules and have fun tweaking the heck out of our cars! Those rules are great! Oh yeah, I polished the 3 ridges on the axles so they are slightly visible, and got good results with spin time, less noise and vibration.

DFW wheel angle and edge
:| I have a couple of DFW questions. 1: At what point does the angle of degree on the DFW become less productive with reducing friction on the track rail? A more severe angle is going to make a smaller footprint on the rail with less contact area. But will the axle begin to take on more friction bet...

Thanks Vit K and Speedster. I'm going to look into this some more and I will view Doc Jones lecture #4.

BSA axle ridges
;) I have a question regarding the ridges on a BSA axle. 3 on one side and 2 on opposing side of axle. If you take a cross section of the axle it's oval where it was struck to create the ridges. Utilizing the flatter side of the oval you will have 3 ridges on one side and 2 on opposing side of axle....

Re: Degree of Wheel Cant
Hey Bill. Just wanted to let you know that I think you have a good blend of wheel can't and friction going on for your rear wheel set up. I think K you have minimized friction in the bore and maximized the cant with least rolling resistance.!

Degree of Wheel Cant
:scratching: When choosing the degree of wheel can't such as 2.5deg for the rear wheels, is it more advantageous to lessen the degree of can't so there is less binding and friction inside the wheel bore? Is there a middle ground of let's say 1.5 deg making it efficient for both the wheel bore and wh...

Re: Aggressive COG limits
Thank U Bill. If you only knew how flawed my memory is U may think differently! Anyway, a Best track would be great, but no where to set it up, and my wife would probably put the brakes on that one. It would be a great way to test my tuning. Thank U for all of your speed tips on COG and wheel bore p...

Re: Aggressive COG limits
Thank U Vitamin K. More steer makes sense to keep rear weight sliding down track evenly. I measured the side force on the rail to find approximate pressure of DFW on rail. 1.5 g was the measurement I got with my hand held scale. I laid an aluminum yard stick on my tuning board where 1 5/8" is m...
