That car is beautiful!
I wish I had the full size version in my garage.

Re: The Boy LEARNS! and a cry for help
You could fit the hole with a wood toothpick and wood glue or drill your holes to fit a small wooden dowel of the same diameter and glue. If you have already cut your block thin but have left the bottom of your car the flat of the orignial block find another block of wood or steel that you know is s...

Re: What kind of name is Bert for a race car?
Go Bubba Go, Thanks for checking out the "OLD" Bert race car. It made me go back and reread the post about my grandfather. As always it made me happy and sad at the same time. :D The weight was secured by the pinning method that you mentioned. The two outside rails were drilled as we...

Re: Wet Sanding
Use caution while wet sanding the primer, paint and/or clear. If the finish is not completely dry when you try to sand the paper may "gum" up and possibly damage your finish. Also use caution when wet sanding corners or high spots because if you sand through to the raw wood the water will ...

Re: Let's Talk Paint
SORRY...Builder Jim (pwdarchitect) are the same guy. He made great suggestions in the second post under "Lets talk paint". Jim is the guy to address the painting techniques and air brush models, tips etc. We use a rattle can for the primer. The old air brush that I have can spray approx. 1...

Re: Let's Talk Paint
Here are a bunch of pictures of cars that have been painted similarly to how "Builder Jim" recommends. 1. Dupli-color High build primer, helps hide imperfections and wood grain. 2. PPG auto paint (some go on dull until they are sprayed with clear then they come to life, like in the picture...

Thank You everyone for the kind words and positive comments. I really appreciate them. Stephen's Dad-We have a Badger air brush that is about 20 years old. You could buy a much better one at any hobby shop or arts and crafts store. The one we have is siphon feed but, the good ones now are gravity fe...

Re: Help with last minute paint/hub contact area problem.
The paint may be "gumming" up when you try to sand it because it is not completely dry, wet sanding may help and will help keep the heat down. Without seeing what happened one thing you may be able to try is to repair the area with 5 minute epoxy. What I would do is scuff the damaged area ...

Re: RaceCream District runs: Disappointing
Here is that post: About 6 months ago I was driving along trying to figure out how to make my WIRL car "BERT" faster when the light bulb over my head lit up and I realized I had discovered the Holy Grail of speed. I went home that evening and snipped a bristle out of my daughters hairbrush...

Re: kit cars - not eBay but is it really different!
The original bad alignment: Any idea if the car was scrubbing wheels, rubbing bores on the body, etc? Or did you just fix it ? Terry, When I saw the car it was an unintentional 3 wheeler turning the wrong way with pigeon toed rears trying to drill the hubs into the body. It was a good car receptive...
