Re: People's choice voting

Thanks for your reply. We have judges for several categories. However, one of the categories we like to include, is the kids vote on best design. Each scout is given a ticket at sign in, and it gives them each one vote to place in the cup of their favorite car. Need to come up with a practical way t...

People's choice voting

In years past, we have placed solo cups in front of each car so that all of the scouts can drop their one issued ticket into so as to vote for their favorite car. Recently, as in this years pinewood derby, I built a rack for staging all of the cars in a smaller area. As a result, it's complicated th...

And now she's got two races under her belt. This time she had a fresh coat of paint and an upgraded stop pin at the front of each car position. Image

Re: Mid America Big Rig track

Not sure how it translates to a pinewood derby car, but be mindful of the physics behind an over weighted trailer pushing your truck. Also the weight distribution on the trailer. If the trailer is tail heavy it will likely weave much like a trailer in a full scale truck. Like you've mentioned previo...

Re: Decided to build me a rack for staging our cars.

This was my fix to make sure none of my cars slipped off the rack. A few cars had the bottom of the front nose rounded up. As a result a few cars tried to slip off and had to be put on the rack backwards. The 1/4" dowel rod, sticking up 3/4" tall, should keep any cars from slipping off. We...

Re: So, what does your username mean?

Perry24, what state? I live in AR and also live in perry county. Lol. I chose zebra car after the name of my first pine wood derby creation from last year. It was made from a block of African zebra wood.

When your wife is a Harry Potter nerd...

My wife asked me to build her a desk. She's a total Harry Potter nerd, so I thought I'd have some fun with it. We already had the 3D puzzle with no place to put it, so I decided to build it into her desk. The following is what I ended up with. When I'm finished, there will be glass over the shadow b...

Re: Jeep with trailer build

Nice work, whodathunkit. I actually bought material and was gonna try and make a soft top for mine. Ended up spending entirely too much time on it as it was, and decided to scrap the idea. I did cover my trailer with a peice of cardboard and paint it to look like it had a tarp over it. The trailer o...

Re: Here's the car from which I came up with my screen name.

Thanks. It was my first build. I thought I'd try and wow the boys with my finish. I used some African zebra wood on a project years ago, so I picked up a bird foot from a cabinet shop near my house. I ripped the board at a 45 degree angle to the grain, and biscuit joined two boards together for the ...

I couldn't have done it without the tools, time, and this pdf file. I did spend a lot of time on the details. It's fun o show off for the boys.

When I registered, it asked for city and region or something of the like. I had to assume it wanted my state.

Re: Jeep with trailer build

I found a cut sheet on line. I printed it off and sized it to scale with a copy machine. Then it was just a lot of scrollsaw work and glueing peices together. I free handed the fuel can on the back bumper and I free handed the trailer just from my head. I also cut the tire off of one of my wheels an...
