How do you remove graphite "stains"
This year my son's car has pearl white sides. Unfortunately when we put graphite on the wheels we got some (a lot) of graphite on the white sides. Seems to be well stuck on there and nothing I have tried will remove it. I told him I thought it added to the car color and makes it look like it has run...

Re: PVC Gutter Experience needed
Follow on. We ran the race this week. The gutters were great and the set up and tear down took about 10 minutes each. We had forty six boys compete. We ran double elimination at the den group level and then brought forward the top two racers from each group for a Grand Finals. Total time from start ...

Re: PVC Gutter Experience needed
The original post is kind of old, but I thought I would post anyway to the original. We rebuilt our gutter tracks this year. We wanted to have four race tracks this year instead of two so the races would run faster. Our original intent was to use 4 inch PVC pipe, but we were worried the keels would ...

Just finished.....
.....our 2006 PWD Challenge for Pack 54. We ran a total of 174 heats using a very old three lane track wood track. It was a lot of fun. This was the 1st year with an automated timing and scoring system.
Couple misfires, but nothing drastic.
The boys had a blast.

Re: New stop section for Pack track
We built one similar to that last year. To slow the cars down on the ramp we purchased a roll of foam at Lowes that is used to on truck beds as a gasket between the truck cap and the bed. One side is sticky so it stays put. It is the exact width of the guide rail. When the belly of the cars hit that...

Start Gate Mod
My pack has a very old 3 lane wood track. Very little modifications have been done to it over the years. I broached the subject about going with a brand new track but it appears there is a sentimental attachment to the wood track. I was told it was about 25 years old and built in Germany by a soldie...

Re: Great Goofs
A parent in my den had a similar problem last year. He used one of those "skin" toppings that lay over the car and stick to it. After his son had applied it, dad 'helped' by spraying it with lacquer. Same result as yours

Re: start gate help
Another item to ponder is that a lot of new computers are now shipping without a parallel and serial ports. Eventually makers of race software need to step up to the new hardware configurations.

Re: start gate help
I will have to ponder this for awhile. I'm not an electronics circuit board expert. I sent the original schematic to my father before I received GPRM and realized that a mod was required to make it work with the GPRM software. I'm not real sure which circuits/diodes/etc need to be cut out of the ori...

Re: Great Goofs
That might not have been an oops on your part, but I never considered humidity as a factor on race day. I will now! p.s. This year we built Joshuas car a month early. That has +'s & -'s finishing early. I have plenty of time to fix any goofs, but can't keep Joshua from playing with this years ra...

Great Goofs
We've all had them, but we seldom like to talk about them. I'm just the opposite When I mess something up, I like to move as quickly as possible from the "wringing of hands" to the "that sure was funny when..." I also think it's a great way to learn - from someone else's great go...
