Re: 2009 Derby Cars - NickyJr
Hobbytown USA has a product called Coverite Balsarite - Balsa Conditioner. It is easy for a cub scout to brush on and it dries to the touch in a short amount of time. I have used it with pine/balsa cars with a variety of finishes and have not had any problems with it. Prior to the conditioner I use ...

Re: How far to cant the wheels?
Our rules say that wheels must run flat against the track surface. So that rule would prohibit anything beyond the 1-2 degree range for my sons car.

Re: Disqualification due to wheel shaping
Thanks for your input. My son and I will work on a new set of wheels. He did almost all of the work on the wheels except the part I trimmed off the interior. This part was done after the pack race and we are two weeks away from districts so we have time to complete a new set. I just hate to tell him...

Re: Disqualification due to wheel shaping
I rechecked the rules and the main concern is the wheels should run flat and can't be beveled or tapered. It does go on to mention wafering and thin sanding among others as being prohibited. The wheels on our car appear thin at the edge and I would not consider them wafer thin. But I am not the pers...

Re: Disqualification due to wheel shaping
Can a car be disqualified due to an interior reduction of the wheels? Our pack and district rules seem to be geared towards the outside shape of the wheels. My sons wheels meet the outside requirements but look a little thin on the interior. Our rules allow drilling in the sidewall of the wheel and ...

Re: Piantadosi track times request
Our pack runs on the 32' wood Piantedosi track and is the same as the track Buckeye described. The fastest time came in at 2.24 seconds. Most of the cars ran between 2.40 and 2.80 seconds.

Re: New Graphite Comparisons
My son and I tested PE's Extreme Graphite/Moly Lube today at our pack race and had very fast consistant times. We had 18 heats on a new wooden track with near perfect conditions and experienced very minute fluctuations in times. I have used tube o lube and hob e lube in the past and liked the result...
