Re: Lafayette District Finals

We both enjoyed it a great deal but we both liked the camping more than the PWD. My favorite part about the PWD process was the appreciation for detail and precision it brought out. My son could see a direct correlation between effort expended and rewards obtained. That's a great lesson for anyone b...

Re: Lafayette District Finals

Thanks for the kind words. The release was manual and the timer was a laser start tied to a Fastrack timer set to read out order of finish. The times were sent to a laptop running Grand Prix Racing software. There was a video cam set up to provide instant replays between each heat. There were 55 hea...

Race Results Video

http://home.comcast.net/~tjwatson1/onlinestorage/pwddistricts.wmv Since most of the race videos that I have seen have been instructive to me, I am posting this URL to the raw footage of our District races from 3/29/08. This represents a first cut and is hard to follow but those who would look for in...

This is a link to the first cut of the raw video.

You will have to be quick with the pause button to see what you want.

My son and I will be working on the video during the next few weeks to try to make something more watchable.

Re: PWD 2008 Movie Link

The track is a Piantedosi wooden 39 foot track with 35' 1" from the laser start to the timer. I don't know the drop but it was not modified in any way from its original height. The track was sanded and finished (water based poly - 600 grit between coats) two years ago but prior to that had suff...

Race Day Was Yesterday

My son had a great evening for his last PWD. He got First Overall and ran the six fastest heats of the evening. We ran on a 40' wooden Piantedosi three lane track, Using the MicroWizard timer with laser start and GPRM software. The track is 35' 1 1/2" between the start and finish. I've included...

Race Day Is Tomorrow

This will be my son's last year of PWD racing. His first year he was third. His second year he was second and got third in the Districts. Last year he was first but was in the hospital when the Districts were run. I hope that he places this year and gets to go to the Districts, to make up for last y...

Re: We Won! and something for the data starved

Thank you for replying, Stan. When we did the wheel blowout we used my air compressor, which has a low cutout of 90 psi and a high of 125. We ran it with the intent of blowing out the bore until the dropout kicked in on each wheel and then we waited until it came up to pressure before doing it again...

You know, it's funny. I thought that the data heads would have jumped all over this.
