Re: Drill blanks (axles)???
You might take a look at 3/32" (0.0938") K&S music wire which can be found at most hobby supply shops and web stores. K&S music wire is very hard and strait. Doesn't cost much if you buy a single 36" length. An even better source is to cut down a 3/32 6" aircraft extensio...

Congratulations to Jesse for hanging in there for the win and a great looking car. You have every reason to be proud. Good luck at the council race.

Re: Bore polishing
My advice if the bore looks suspect throw the wheel out and get another one. For bore polishing I take a 1/8" strip of 12000 Micro-Mesh, tightly rapped around a 6" length of 0.057" music wire (ends glued to the wire with super glue) http://members.aol.com/pwasinger/Bore1.jpg Insert in...

Re: Start Gate: Laser or Micro-Switch?
If your goal is to have a highly accurate, consistent and trouble free as possible track timing system, I don't think you can beat a micro switch and a well designed spring assisted starting gate controlled by a good mechanical latching system. My earlier post shows a good example http://derbytalk.c...

Re: Perfect Run
I have been playing around with different things with my car and had a run of 1.88. I have had this track for 5 years and literally done 100's if not 1000's of runs. Never had the timer mess up where it is faster. Had the same experience with our track a while back. Turned out to be a hanging micro...
