Micro Wizard Laser Gate Switches
I have on hand 2 of the Micro Wizard laser Starting Gate switches. I have used it once to detect the Starting pins and it worked great. You can use them on your track or use them for some type of experimental purposes. These are listed at $60.00 (plus shipping ) each on their web site. One of them h...

Track Vibration
I have'nt posted here in a while but the pine sap remains in the blood especially being the owner of about a 1800 dollar track system. Now with all the talk about starting systems vibrating the track with the slap of the gate opening and vibrations of other cars on the track has anyone else here not...

Re: Outsmarting the mavericks at the check in
Thoughts? Hehehehehe  IMO #1. Some break-in time (Runs) would be required for maximum performance with useing graphite. So this being any one that done a good clean job while adding graphite and did their home work in studying/testing graphite break-in would in some sense be punished by requir...

Yes all I can get is the blue part that says 20% , it will not give me the fine print.quadad wrote:Has anyone had a problem using these ? The fine print seems to indicate that they computer printout versions are not acceptable.

Re: Alignment problem
On the counter rolling test, all wheels move away from the body moving both forward and rearward. .......and what about the rest of the test? Try this : Push all wheels out to head of axle, roll the car backwards and forwards just as you did. All wheels should remain outwards. Now push wheels inwar...

Re: Pinewood Derby 1976
Yes, the double elimanation method to me does raise issues in the finish order above 1st and second places but probably with enough time and runs each position could eventually be figured out. Hey but if you did'nt finish first what's the difference anyway. But how could anyone argue with that high ...

Re: Solenoid Start Gate
Interesting;
What would be the reccommended poundage to pull a start gate lever?
Another thing I have found is the jolt of the snap can sometimes effect track times if the jolt is so hard enough to wiggle the cars.

Re: Ok..... explain this, Mr Wizard PAINT question
THIRD QUESTION = if the only color avail is grey for primer,, is that going to negatively affect the color going over top? Negatively? Not always, It's all according to your final color desire, Grey can be a good thing but then again it can be a bad thing. If grey will effect your final color negat...

Re: Minor wheel weight reduction
Right, heavier wheels will take off slower but which will give you better results in speed take off , Removing .5 grams from the inner hub or removing .5 grams from the tread surface?GravityRacer wrote: This robs you of the potential energy you get from the elevation at the start.

Re: Minor wheel weight reduction
Without doing exstensive test I noticed the performance difference and I have to agree with you about leaving some meat on the inner hub. I have to also admit that one of your threads http://derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=4352 inspired this curiousoty in me to start this thread . So in response to yo...

Re: Race Rerun
If a car leaves it's lane or track, loses and part, drips oil or lubes, etc. and causes no interference with other cars or the finish results that's just tough stuff. The results stand. If the car somehow causes interference with another car or finish results , then it will be a re-run. Generally wh...

Minor wheel weight reduction
In trueing the wheels sometimes skimming the inner hub O.D. a small weight reduction will occure such as maybe .02, .03 grams. In total weight .02 grams is still .02 grams , but will placement of the weight removal make a difference in performance of the wheel? It seems that if we remove a major par...

Re: Race Rerun
What type of format are you using to run the race? Points, times, Head to head elimination?
Are you considering a possible whole race rerun or a single heat rerun?
