Re: Information on Derby Car Supplies by Roadway Racers?

Speedster, The items at Hobby Lobby look like Pinecar rebranded to me.

Wish you were closer. I would love so see your wheel bore prep and see if you have any tips on the Vintage 1953 wheels. I would much rather be polishing wheels then the homework I have to have done by midnight Sun.

Re: Information on Derby Car Supplies by Roadway Racers?

Speedster, I believe he is talking about the jig to add/recut axle slots. Some rules require slots, but do not require the 4 3/8" wheelbase etc.

Re: Kits are missing wheels and axles (nails)

I thought he meant pickup trucks. The semi kits for sure had the wheels robbed out of them. They are old style and racers bought up the kits for the 18 wheels. They had no intention of ever doing anything with the big rigs.

Cool Car!

Be careful - make sure you check your rules. Most do not allow the use of magnets.
And, if you are looking for another opportunity to race this fine car be sure to check out http://www.TheWestCoastGrandPrix.com

Re: Kits are missing wheels and axles (nails)

Be careful - Read your rules. Most races require Official BSA wheels. Also, please don't think the manufacturer will replace those. The likelihood of that happening is next to non. It is far more likely that those kits were returned or someone removed wheels and axles then they were sent out without...

Re: Carpenters Union Cut Out Clinic

Sounds like a Great Day for all! The ones who didn't show because of the rain will likely be the same ones that complain about other things.

I think it is fantastic that you and the union offer this!

I wish you had some pictures of the day. I would love to see some of what you are describing.

Re: 60th anniversary of the Pinewood Derby

Well Whodathunkit started me down the historical/kit collection. While I have no intention of amassing the full collection he and others have I do appreciate the historical value and your super cool display setup. Not sure how I missed this thread when I scoured the forum, but I am glad you posted h...

Re: The Science of the Pinewood Derby

The video is easy. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RjJtO51ykY Some of the info is dated, but since it is the link that pops up in most searches it has been viewed millions of times. I played this video for my class. Then I played the Inclined Kinetics podcast to discuss the update...

COOL!

Did you drill holes in the wheels?

And, am I seeing right, you are running washers between axle heads and wheels on your three touching wheels?

Re: 2020 Train Car for my 3 year old.

Super cool!
I just finished a Civil War steam engine called The General using 3D printed parts. It still needs weight, wheels, and axles.
My oldest daughter now says want to design and build an train engine herself.
