Re: Turtle Pictures

Here's Stumpy and Stretchy Turtle cars. (this is actually the same car, just it takes 20 seconds to swap the center carbon fiber tube with press fit ends) Stumpy = .68oz Stretchy = .70oz -T http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/Teeeman/Pinecars/S5005332.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/Teee...

Re: Car Carry Case

Rather than fear, we instead inspired laughter and pity with our cardboard creations most likely. Just remember: the more "professional" you look, the more "professional" of an inspection the judges may give you... but that matters not if you have competetent judges, cl...

I'm a big believer that you can't "break in too much" with graphite...

not sure about burnishing...

just assess the lube life with a stopwatch... when you see it wearing thin, relube and keep on breaking in...

Re: Balsa wood help

Out of my experience base... I would say "sand and primer then paint". I wonder... was the primer water based? My guess is balsa is probably going to want to soak up water... (hygroscopic?)... if the primer was water based, that may be the problem? In my experience base... balsa covered in...

Re: Am I missing something?

IF COM is 1" or more from the rear axle and the rear axle is fully to the rear as much as possible, I would suggest (if possible) move the weight back 1/8" and make the turn in 3" in 4' or more. But if it "sizzled" on the track and this is Pack... just race. You can get more...

Re: Am I missing something?

The lower the angle at which it starts rolling, the lower your static (starting) friction, which in general means probably the sliding friction is lower as well. Maybe I'm missing something... on a steeper incline, the normal force is less... the difference is held by the starting pin... at gate re...

Re: Experiences with Monokote for PWD?

What about the clear wrap that is on CD cases when you buy them?

Never thought about it but I bet that stuff is strong as long as the edges are smooth and it is pulled taut..

Re: Car Carry Case

We used some large spongy foam blocks that actually were the supports in the packaging for the new headliner I put in my Camaro a few years ago... they were just the right size to fit in a cardboard box that McMaster Carr uses to ship small orders typically... so we sliced across the blocks about 1-...

Covert ops in order here.

Execute with prejudice.

The lumps from the rolling pin go away in 2-3 days speaking from lots of experience.

Re: Experiences with Monokote for PWD?

We have glued paper to fill car bottoms... if you first create a styrofoam body filler, it works very well (and really doesn't add much weight).

Probably not as "slick" (both literally and figuratively!) as monokote... :)

No laughter here... experimenting and sharing is what we are all about on here... the envelope edge won't get pushed otherwise. For every success there are 100s of mistakes along the way. BTW, great job trying to find a way to use the shaver with a power tool... if successful (don't give up!) it wou...

Re: Turtle Pictures

Teeman looking at the pic of the car w/o wheel the right front axle holder is wider then the rest is supposed to be this way or not...........and if it is to be wider than why It's on purpose. Note the thin width of the area the other 3 axles press through... that's on purpose to allow the axle to ...
