That is wicked. The only thing I see is that it might change in looks quite a bit, once the belly of the car is raised to mid wheel. That was the reason for adding the sides, they will hang down lower to give it the dragging look. They will essentially be for looks only as the inside of the car wil...

Too much wood if speed is your goal. Would be attractive if interested in a Best Design category. Was thinking that I would attempt to make the main cab hollow, other than the area right above the rear wheel so that it can be weighted properly. The hood and the add on sides I'd do out of basswood.

Plans for a Hot Rod Car
Came across this image and couldn't hep but think it could make a killer derby car. Looking for some feedback/thoughts on the un-forseen challenges? On the surface it looks fairly straightforward, what am I missing?

So, I haven't built a car since I was in cub scouts. I was very excited to have a Tiger cub this year and even more so to serve as their den leader. After getting online to do some research I couldn't believe how much derby has changed and how much it's stayed the same. A lot more high tech now but ...
