Any Lost fans round here?

Just wondering, pretty bummed about the shortened season. At least some of the mysteries are getting solved- except who is in that darn coffin and what is smokie!

Re: Please help, need expert advice

The COM is 1 3/16" in front of rear wheel. I am meausuring from the middle of the rear wheel bore to the balance point. I assume that is how it's is calculated. My car is tungsten weighted although I do have 4 -1 gram air gun pellets that I could shift forward to even it out. The shimmy wasn't ...

Re: Please help, need expert advice

They were run on a 40' aluminum freedom. They were fairly close but it appeared as if the show car was slightly in the lead during the middle section of the track but the winner car caught up and overtook it in the last 2 feet. I wonder how different they will perform on the Best track. One thing th...

Re: Please help, need expert advice

Prior to the big race the show car was about 2-3" slower. The winner was really not that much faster. I only raced them twice though so neither was broke in fully yet. I broke out my test board after the race and the toe has not changed on either car. The show car pulls pretty hard, at least 5 ...

Please help, need expert advice

Have one week till sectionals. Came back from races today and examined cars closely. My race car finished 1st but at the end of the day(fun runs) my show car was running neck and neck with it. I don't think graphite breakdown was much of a factor as my race car had a grand total of about 10 races on...

Re: First place overall speed

Good call on the wording usage. Now that you mention it the track owner has always been the starting gate operator. I think why he missed it was that in the final few feet the true winner came from behind. I know this is off the topic but I am horrible with the search engine so here goes. Our unit t...

Re: First place overall speed

The young couple clearly saw their 7 year old boy win by an inch. Actually quite a few of us saw the same thing. The young boy walked away with a second place finish. They had good attitudes about it. I was the mediator between them at the end of the track and the track owner at the starting gate. H...

First place overall speed

Thanks for all the advice everybody, it really helped. My car came in 1st place in my division and won overall speed by roughly 3/4s of a car length. The most amazing thing is that my usual competition wasn't even close. He came in 3rd and the guy that came in second was a real shocker. I had helped...

Re: Cars ready for Saturday!

Pre race results: All 3 were very fast. 52 car was clearly the slowest while out of the other two the car with no decals was faster by a half a car length. I raced my slowest #52 car against my competitions fastest car ever and I smoked him by over a car length! Imagine he's at home right now tweeki...

Re: Cars ready for Saturday!

Thanks! I am on pins and needles. Only a few hours to go before the pre race. Hope there's not a thing as to much graphite. As I was lubing the cars it dawned on me that this year has been a perfect storm. Take a guy who is laid off from work, has no distractions such as kids, some might say obsessi...

Re: Cars ready for Saturday!

I found these decals at a hobby shop in Portland. There was a logo on the paper that says "slixx decals". They have a website with tons of stuff for models. I am having a tough time deciding what to put on the car on the left. I basically said forget it and left it blank. The color doesn't...

Re: Cars ready for Saturday!

These are the Royal Ranger style wheels. Royal Rangers is similar to cub scouts, except they are from Assembly of God church'. They are a pain to align due to the screw and dowel setup. In some ways they can be easier to work with such as freedom od design. The wheels are extremely hard and great to...

Cars ready for Saturday!

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj41/frontosacam311/100_0552.jpg Finally finished. Added a thin neutral airfoil to the middle car and got it to weight. Not an easy task! The rear tungsten cylinder that has the #3 on it is sandwinched between two 3/8" dowels, the dowels are hollowed out and ...

Re: Teflon

I've never used it myself, but those I've talked to that have were not impressed. From the sounds of it, it is slower than low end graphite. I believe it is fouls derby tracks less than graphite and that is why there is so much of it for sale.

Re: What say the masses?

I agree with Doct1010. Let the car race but not be able to place. One problem though, the car is obviously fast and most likely will place in the top three. People will notice that the fast car belongs to the autistic boy. Come award time when the little boy is overlooked and not awarded a trophy so...
