Re: A car running alone is faster?

I think faster is a relative term, at this point I think we are talking numbers in the 3rd decimal place which may be statistically hard to differentiate. You say your car varies .01 on your track. Can you give us your times for however many runs you ran? What I am getting at is what is the standard...

Re: Accommodating late check-ins

The first step in our Derby is to enter the complete roster into GPRM about a week before the event. Then you can not pass the no shows and exclude them from the schedules. We also have a "Last Call" for anyone who hasn't checked in, before creating the schedules. I think a well defined an...

Re: Longer track

No to this "I though riding was negative cant and running was positive cant on dfw."

Look at the picture at the bottom left with yellow cars and please ignore Caster for PWD. This should help with some terminology.

Re: Mid America results.

There were a ton of nice cars there. We added weight, wheels and axles and tuned 5 cars from 4:50 pm till 7:30 pm before leaving for Omaha on Friday evening with a 7-1/2 hour drive ahead of us. Very very tired.... Fenders were in the plan, but didn't make the cut due to time constraints. Open Scout ...

0.10 Ounce speed advantage?

Best guesses anyone......... What would be the speed gain by adding 0.10 oz to a car? Location of weight is approximately .625" in front of rear axle. Track, Freedom Aluminum 32' Micro Wizard Timer. This is a fender related question, but I want to approach it based on weight first. I did a test...

Re: Fenders-Are they legal?

Speedster, Very astute observation of your rules! I would agree with you, it's black and white and in english. Intent is a communication variable, something very different and left to interpretation. Intent should not be part of derby rules, unless examples are given to communicate the intent and pr...

Re: Wheel runout quality report

Stan,

You are correct.

I was in a hurry and hungry when typing and was thinking about depth of cut being x2 off the diameter.

It cannot be x2 off the diameter if there is nothing there to cut.............

Wheel runout quality report

In preperation for Mid America we have been measuring runout of stock wheels. A fairly large sample size >50. Minimum .0005" Maximum .011" I did not log the measurements and do the statistics, but the bulk of the wheel were in the .004 to .006" runout range. Bore sizes varied as well ...

Re: Request for Analysis of Proposed Wheel Base Rule Change

I am not sure how much recent discussion is addressing the original concern. FS, all of the rules are interrelated as the system(the car) has to work together to perform it's best. I think there has been some very valuable information come out of this discussion. Like, Uninspectable rules are not w...

Re: Request for Analysis of Proposed Wheel Base Rule Change

It depends on how one defines "sacrifice". If the ballast is removed, the car becomes a decorative shell, useless for competition. Certainly one could not race last year's car against this year's car, which is useful for gauging improvement. (And if one tried to replace the ballast later,...
