Re: Best method for 3 lanes, no timers?
Ideally, I think we should buy an electronic timer, but I'm not sure I can convince the Pack it is worth it, and I don't think I can convince my wife I should buy one and donate it. A timing system doesn't have to be an expensive purchase. If someone can do a some soldering and some carpentry, you ...

MaxV,
Our Awana Grand Prix is coming up at the end of the month, so we are getting our cars ready. You've been offering the Awana wheels on your site for a little while now, have you noticed any issues with mold numbers?

Re: "Chule" car wheels
Still, my sons chule cars beat the PWD cars on any track, any day. Them is fightin' words  Cars at thiry paces... Ready... race... My guess would be that the wheels are what would make all the difference. Those wheels are very rounded and thin so there is not much in contact with the track...

Re: What Should be Sold on E-Bay
Speaking of Ebay, This is a car I was watching all week, THIS CAR IS AWESOME. I was willing to spend $30 on it out of respect and amazement, and it was over that mid week. I went was a spectator for the last minute of the auction, it was $75 going into the last hour, and then the last minuteminute ...

Re: Timing the runs
A stopwatch works, but their has to be a better way. Does anybody know how difficult it would be to hook-up GPRM to a cubmobile race using a snap switch on the starting ramp and either photo-eyes or a air switch (triggered by running over a hose) at the finish line ? As long as the start switch and...

Re: Which race scheduling method do you use?
Does GPRM software estimate elapsed time of event ? I want the actual racing to last ax. 1.5 - 2 hours. No, since that can really vary by how organized you are, how many racers you need to stage for each heat, which race method you use and so on. It will, however, give you stats on your heat turnar...

Re: Which race scheduling method do you use?
I noticed on the pole that lane rotation has the highest number of votes. Is this because it provides ease in getting each scout to make their lane runs all at once? Why is stearns so low ? Isn't it very similar to Perfect-N ? I'm kinda confused as to what system to use. We have been using a 2-lane...

Re: Graphite break in time
To break them in are you spinning them by hand? To get the best break-in, you'd need to be putting a bit of a load on the axle while spinning. We've done this by holding boths end of the axle while "driving" the wheels around on a smooth and clean surface. We have in the past spun the whe...

Re: Graphite break in time
From Wooden Wonders trials, you can see the graphite performed better at around 9-13 runs down the track. Why doesn't spinning the wheels after lubing have the same effect? Based on his research, if you are running graphite for a lube, you probably shouldn't even try to lube between pack races and ...

Re: Slowest Car Award
Randy, think that this would depend on it is for a boy or and adult and if the award can be taken in jest or not. Some ideas I had: #1 How about a brick with wheels on it? You could even mount this on a trophy stand. #2 An anchor. #3 A small replica of a gas can with a ribbon on it. #4 An Energizer...

I guess I assumed that the #44 bit that you offer is a brad pointMaxV wrote:The bits I offer are not Brad Point, they are HSS standard length bits. I have never ran across a #44 brad point bit.
So what is a brad point?

You can find these at MaxV's site at http://www.maximum-velocity.com/special ... s.htm#bits and I'm sure there are other derby suppliers on the web that have them too.DR Pine wrote:Has anyone ever run across a #44 brad point in there travels?

Re: Impounding between pack race and district race?
We just held out pack race last Saturday and the district race will not be held until April (and that is not set in stone on the calender). We don't have any rules about not changing the car until the district. I am tempted to try to put on new wheels because the current ones are starting to look a...
