Jeep with trailer build
We had our 2nd Annual pinewood derby event at church today. I put on 2 workshops and offered a Builder Class where the cars are built entirely at church with church supplied materials. These cars stay at church until the race. We also had Open Class where cars could be built with any materials anywh...

Re: what will this car do?
Thanks Speedster. I went and picked it up from church. Took the measurements and found the 5/8 com. I removed some rear weight and added some putty ahead of the front axle. It’s now got .63 oz on dfw but com didn’t change noticeable. This dfw weight on our extended wb cars would be a com of 5/8”. Th...

Re: what will this car do?
Balances at 5/8” ahead of rear axle line. We usually had our extended wb cars at 5/8” and one even a hair under. I’m not sure how “tippy” this design will be with the same com.
Will it be more susceptible to the front getting light off the transition since the rears are more forward.

Re: what will this car do?
I didn’t check that specifically but I know that an extended wb car with .62 oz on the Dfw is between 5/8 and 3/4” and very stable.

Re: what will this car do?
Also, I gave it 4.5" of steer in 4' because of the light front.

what will this car do?
We had our 2nd Annual derby workshop at church today in prep for the race on Oct 20th. I had some helpers with no building experience working with me so you already know I was busier than a one-armed paper hanger on a windy day. I was tuning cars on the tuning table and was brought the last car of t...

Re: cab-over semi
devet, I do like the looks of your fuel tanks dents wrinkles and all! However If your still looking to do something different to cover them up maybe you could change up the looks to like what is seen in this link. https://misracing.com/site-assets/2017/07/Anderson-Motor-Speedway-Big-Rig-Truck-Vinta...

Re: cab-over semi
It's all chrome tape that's why the rounded fuel tanks turned out looking like sausages. I may actyally remove those and square the ends. It's bugging me.

Re: cab-over semi
Hey there Whoda. It's not big office desk top quality like you put together but the kids will enjoy it. No trailer. We still have 7" for a length limit. I didn't start with the intention of having it look this way. It morphed as I went along and never really started with a plan. I have to finis...

Re: moral/ethics dilemma
It does look like OP now that you mention it. I may have identified two really fast cars that will be there. That takes a little heat off me. I still hate to run it and deny a new racer a chance to be #1 during their heat. I'm just assuming it will be faster than anything else because of the people ...

Re: cab-over semi
95% of the kids we have racing didn't know what a pinewood derby car was when I introduced the idea at church. I know this is lacking in the fit and finish area but the kids will think it's cool. I put some lines of glue atop the fifth wheel to simulate a fresh application of grease. I got carried a...

Re: moral/ethics dilemma
I think everyone would like to see your truck race. Simply disqualify yourself at the very beginning. You might choose to announce you just want to see how your truck will do. If it happens to be very fast you might get some very interested people asking how the truck was built. I think folks will ...
