Track Records: Cubs only?

Folks- We just purchased GPRM for our new track. I entered in the track records from last years race, where we only ran Cub Scout cars. Thus, all the records are currently held by Cubs. We are adding an "open division" this year where parents and siblings will be able to run their cars AFT...

Efficient Inspection & Weigh-In: can 2 scales be used?

I'm adding an open division to our racing this year and I want to be sure we can efficiently handle the extra volume of cars on inspection night. We conduct our inspections the night before the race. We budget 6:30pm to 8pm to get inspection of 60 cars done. During the peak window, things can get ba...

Considering adding an Open Division to our Pack Race

I'm the Pinewood Derby committe chair for our Pack this year (and for the next 4 years) and I'm looking to take our current race format and add some small improvements. Background of our Pack: We have about 60 kids in the pack. We run each Den as a group and offer 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies for...

Re: Timer Problems impact fairness of District Race

I'll ask them. I've already asked them for a copy for myself, but haven't seen a response. I suspect they just want this to fade away at this point, and to be honest, I don't blame them. I really don't want to be a burden on them, but at the same time, if we could make some intelligent mods to the s...

Re: Timer Problems impact fairness of District Race

I can say that in the district race in which we had these timer problems, they did throw out the lowest time for everyone (that was part of their race program as defined from the start). Problem is, the timer had so many problems that went un noticed, that some cars had more than 1 heat impacted. In...

Re: Timer Problems impact fairness of District Race

Some good ideas here. I agree, the last thing you want to have happen is to post warnings to race managers that are not really problems. I've got some data from our pack race and in looking at that data, I can see a wide range of times for cars. I would say about 80% of the cars are fairly competiti...

Timer Problems impact fairness of District Race

Folks- My son joined Tiger Scouts this year, so this is my first year participating in Scouts since I was a kid. We had a wonderful time working together on our PWD car this year and are already looking forward to next year. I've volunteered to be the race coordinator for our Pack race for the next ...
