MaxV wheels and oil

I seem to remember asking this question in the past but can't find the answer. It may be that I'm old and was asking myself.
Can a guy run Ny-Oil II with MaxV Basic Kit wheels?
Also, where can I find the 2oz bottles of Ny-oil that used to be so easy to get?

Re: church race classes

Also, how do we check-in cars. I understand the inspection process. After the car passes inspection it gets assigned a number. Does that number, class designation and racer name just get put on a list then given to the computer guy to add after the check-in is over?

Re: church race classes

Speedster. I can't imagine the professional setup you need to have to accommodate 100 builds in a couple hours. You bring up something that is causing me to do a little headscratching. How many workshops should we have and how long should they be? I have no idea how many kids and adults we'll get to...

Re: church race classes

Thanks Whoda. I guess won't try to accidentally legislate the fun out of it. If someone comes from outside the workshops with a ringer from scouts it will just be someone a new, Open Class builder can aim for.

church race classes

Our first church derby event is finally going forward. My initial thinking was to have just one class and those cars would be required to be built by the kids during the workshops at the church using our supplies. I had thought this would work to prevent experienced builders from running away with t...

Re: Opinions of the group

Speedster, what I mean is whether the kid builds a fast car or a slow car, the boy won't learn much if an adult isn't there acting as a mentor.

Re: Opinions of the group

To take the argument of limiting modifications to it's logical end one would have to conclude that the best way to deal with this would be to give each kid their own kit. Then, tell them they can have no help from anyone and cannot use any tools and they can only use what's in the kit. This way all ...

Re: Opinions of the group

The advantage in having more options for gaining speed is that the adult and the scout get to learn more about the physics of reducing friction. The scout gets to learn how to use a variety of tools. The scout and adult get more time to work together as a team. I told my boy when we were building sc...

Re: wheel source

I like Derbydadforhire wheels. They have been by far the best from all the ones I tried. I had a set a few yrs ago. All but 1 wheel were .001-.002 out of round. I have a set here from DE and they're perfect. Maybe just a bad set. I'd try them again if I hadn't found these DE wheels in the bottom of...

Re: Any recommendations for car design? Help appreciated...

That's too bad. We had a rear axle slide nearly all the way out after 2 trial runs before a Pack race. We had glued them in just about an hr before the race. We drill 2 holes under the axle and put glue in the innermost hole at each axle then push the axle in. This way the axle is being slid into th...

That'll be the coolest looking car on the parking rack for sure! You certainly dotted every "I" and crossed every "T" on that build. Can't wait to see how you guys do.

If you learned any tricks with that cover let me know. We'll be doing a car for a race in June.
I've never built a 4-wheeled rail-rider but the guys here have the best advice. You'll do awesomely.
