Re: Tips for building cars using Krytox 100

For a particular configuration however, the use of modeling software such as VRII could be insightful. I retract this statement for now. I just tried a simulation with VRII and could not find a distance where a razor wheel configuration lost out to the 2009 stock wheel configuration. For the razor ...

Re: Tips for building cars using Krytox 100

I just think it would help the discussion to have a number that most agree on where it becomes beneficial to go back to heavier wheels if lighter are an option via the rules. Yes, a single crossover distance would be sweet; however, as Stan implied, there are many factors might affect the acc...

Now let me clarify my goals: I really just want [...] And if I lose, I'm all right with that... Thanks for the clarification, subnet99. Your stated goals seem aligned with construction and design commonly used in pro- or modified-class league racing. You may also want to check out boards that speci...

You read my mind, PBT. ;) Are power sources, for example, disallowed? Does anything really go? What are the actual constraints?

Re: Planning for a "Anything Goes" adult car.

subnet99 :welcome: Can you clarify a bit what is meant by anything goes ? For example, the car size must be limited (the body must less that a certain length and height) or it would not fit on the track at the starting line or fit through the finish gate. Have you thought about other ways to get &qu...

Re: Bore prep

As I mentioned before the micromesh can be ordered by calling them to get the adheasive backed micromesh. Sporty, since the Micromesh product you have recommended is not listed, do you have supplier part numbers or prices or any other information that would facilitate somebody wanting to order the ...

Sporty, I only found a Q&A page. Could you post a link to the "test chart data"?

UPDATE: Is this it?

Glad to hear you didn't have them try their hand at melting lead. Again, congrats.

So based on the experience w/ Ben's car, do you plan to use Nyoil next year or try something different?

Re: Raced Wednesday Night- Nyoil took 1st place!

Congratulations, Greg. Have any of you ever heard of waxing your cars before a race? Yes. BSA "rules in the box" comment on applying wax. And Pine-Pro actually makes a "Pinewood Derby Racing Wax". I have even seen a claim that lots of waxing reduces wind resistance. We do...

Re: Nyoil ii- I'm shocked nobody uses it!!

How does the longevity of a minimalist liquid lube job compare to graphite? Is there a noticeable drop off in performance over time with liquid lubes as is sometimes reported with graphite? (Is there a topic on this already?)

Andy, what kind of ballast are you using in SheBangaBang and Slimer? Is it tungsten disk or composite?

What is the origin and composition of the bead?

Do you apply primer directly to raw wood, or do you seal it first, say with a sanding sealer?

Thanks for your help and I apologize for not being clear before although I imagine this explanation is making it even worse. No need to apologize, DT. Your explanation actually seemed clear enough... I was just wondering whether your unit's rule was clear enough - that is, is the rule saying one th...
