Re: Something Very Special... 2015 Mid America Pinewood Derb
For anyone out there reading this and wondering if they should try this, DO IT! All the goodies you get back for each car entered more than cover the cost of racing and it is fun to see your car race online if you cannot attend in person. Birddog Birddog nailed it! If you cannot attend, just get to...

Re: "Lubricants must be dry at the time of the race"
A reason for "forgetting" the "dry at the time of application" rule is that it can not be enforced at inspection! Great point Stan! I think each rule, should be accompanied by the inspection procedure for that rule. Then you have something that should not get lost in translation.

Re: Solenoid and Black box
Speedster,
I don't have any idea about your solenoid, but have you tried looking here for a suitable substitute?

Are there any numbers on it?

Re: Geetting COM Under 1/2" ???
Guys, let's please keep this forum about the kid's races. gpraceman, No disrespect, but this is why I don't post much if at all anymore on this forum. I have quite enjoyed this forum and without a doubt it has helped my son and I build better cars. So thank you for operating it. The fact that you h...

Re: "Lubricants must be dry at the time of the race"
I am not aware of a successful test for oil in a race situation. I have seen and experienced first hand people guarantee against oil and oil still pass inspection. This thread http://www.derbytalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2779&p=26581&hilit=oil+paper+test#p26581 discusses a paper test, bu...

Re: Wheel Bore Wax?
I was kind of hoping someone had a viable head down to Autozone etc...solution....maybe the Liquid Glass is the closest to that. Just trying to avoid suggesting a list of items totaling a lot of $$$ for the new tigers. I guess the good news is that if they get a vendor bottle of wax, it will still p...

Wheel Bore Wax?
Can anyone suggest a good proven wheel bore wax for a scout workshop?
Something that can be bought in bulk, as opposed to every scout buying a $10 bottle?
Thanks

Re: Oil prep on scout track
I think you have a better chance of fouling your wheel od, than you do your axle/bore interface. That would be the same no matter what lube you're running.
Just out of curiosity, is your rule "Graphite only" or is it "Dry"?

Re: Envelope inspection
OK, I went back at looked at a picture I took of the car with a 7" rule on the bottom of it. While it was most likely not an 1/8" it was at least a 1/16". I have always considered the 7" max to be the max, do others think there is some acceptable value over or around that 7"...

Envelope inspection
I just went to Max V to look at the clear box that checks the size of the car and noticed that it is no longer there. Can anyone speak to their experience with them and or the new design offered? I suspect the old design allowed the car to actually be longer than 7" by a little, based on a car ...

Re: Tungsten Puma Weighta
Where is the best place to purchase a couple of sets these new version weights forr testing? Our rules require sight of the letter on the inside as China wheels are deemed illiegal.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Need room layout advice
We have which ever rank is racing all sit along the track holding their cars. It goes very smooth. When that rank is done they return their cars to the impound and the next group goes. You could do that with your closest scout table spots and proximity of impound would not be a big issue. We also st...

Re: Axle drilling success rate?
With the machined block/bullet you don't necessarily need a squared table for your press as long as the fence is locked down to drill both rear holes. Any offset will be mirrored when the block is flipped. No offense, but I totally disagree with this statement regarding the table squaring as far as...
